i agree that there is lots of blame to go around. mike gillis for one. he would be admired, if his team had finally been able to bring home the cup, but the fact is that he would have sold the farm to get that banner. we do not really know what influence ownership is having on the management of this team. if he is putting pressure on the current management to go in a certain direction which is not wise or working, then he should take the blame. the current management team came in with very little managerial experience, and so it was hoped that they would learn and become wise quickly. but it does not appear that they are learning their lessons very well or very fast. they need to learn and start to make better decisions about many things.

You can't blame Gillis for this mess. Jim Benning has created a huge mess of a team and has traded the same amount of draft picks in 2 years that Gillis traded in 6 years. Only someone who hasn't followed the team would blame Gillis. Ownership wants to make the playoffs, but Jim Benning also sold them on a quick turnaround, without needing to go through a rebuild. Don't kid yourselves...Jim Benning is to blame for this mess. This team will continue to suck until ownership smartens up and fires Benning, Weisbrod, and Linden, and brings in management with a rebuild mandate, who know what they're doing.

Ownership needs to worry about building a good tea, to compete for the cup and not just to make the playoffs for two home game revenue. What good is squeaking into the playoffs if no one even goes? Fans have nothing to look forward to after the Sedins retire...is that when the rebuild begins? Bending is known for being a good scout/drafter. Why does he keep giving away picks like no tomorrow then?
