Should Travis Pastrana and Nitro Circus perform at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium?

What is good enough for the USNA is good enough for me. I am sure this top notch military academy has reviewed the pluses and minuses of this event and come to the conclusion that it would be a good event for the stadium, the USNA and Annapolis. Perhaps Travis and team are even doing something special to honor the Mids. Let the show go on!!!

Disruptive due to noise??? Like all the other events are quiet, The Blue Angels, football games, bands, etc. Compared to all the other events this will be quiet and far less disruptive. The ones complaining know nothing of the show and are complaining because that's what they do, disrupt.

I hope Annapolis comes to its senses. I remember when I was young seeing Travis run his track doing jumps at his home that was right off Tyler Ave. My have things changed so much in the past 20 years.

Don't let a few people ruin it for everyone else! The show is incredible and well performed!

This is a fantastic family oriented show put on by world class athletes! Annapolis should be embracing this event and be proud to have it at the Stadium!

I could go on about how I lose access to my home and business due to the Eastport Rocking event , along with parking during the boat shows, July 4th, Blue Angels, Lights Parade etc. But that would be near sighted , all these events along with the prospect of Nitro Circus coming to Annapolis is what our town is about , now a few select residents get the right to dictate this, NO. Travis is a true home town hero and he gets turned out. B.S. !!
We better start hearing from our , alderman ,NOW. The Show Will Go On !!!!

I live in Admiral Heights and would LOVE to see this event come to the stadium (and am not bothered by the football games, band competitions and myriad of other events that take place there - the stadium was here before I was and I consider it a major bonus to live within walking distance of a stadium that can host events of this nature). Not that my neighborhood board bothered to ask anyone before they decided to oppose for no good reason. I find the million 5ks that shut down the streets in the neighborhood without notice much more disruptive than Nitro Circus would be. This event would be great for the community. It would be sad if the opinions of a very few prevented this event from taking place in Pastrana's home town.

Hey everyone, thanks for your kind and gracious remarks about Travis and our family. I recognize several names in this comment section and am glad so many who have taken the time to voice their desire to see NCL at the stadium. Travis is very grateful for all the support, and our family thanks you.

Travis' grandfather built a lot of this town with his concrete company. Many of his his uncles still break their backs working for that same company today. His father a marine, one uncle a college professor and former Denver Bronco. They are golden glove boxers, extremely talented. Then there's his aunts and grandmother (rip), don't mess with them. All that to say this. While his grandmother was living, these larger than life tough men and woman would break for lunch most days during the work week to sit together as a family at Grandmoms house in Eastport. They stand for hard work, character and integrity but the also stand together as family and love their community in a way that is rare in this day and age. I haven't seen them in many years but the impact they made on my life was and is something I reflect on often. They (not just Travis) are role models and the community should be excited about the opportunity to host Travis and his family and friends at the stadium. Nitro Circus isn't just Motorsports and skateboarding. It's about teamwork, friendships, community and pushing yourself past your limits. It's a metaphor for life and it's struggles. That if you build solid relationships and you work hard and have each other's backs as friends and community you can achieve anything!!

The claim that the noise would be too much is completely False. I live in Admiral Heights and various things are going on, at the Stadium, all the time and it does not cause any problems or concerns. The people who are against the Nitro Circus just do not like daredevil motorsports. The other events are not scrutinized like this one...why ?

As a Life Long Annapolitan I am embarrassed that we would not support Travis. He and his have given to the community for many years. I live one block from the stadium and see no difference for this activity and the many others that are held there. I have lived in the Homewood Community since 1990 and have never been asked before or heard of an event being treated like this one is. I am a Physical Therapist and had a 5 yr old patient who spoke of enjoying to watch Travis so I called Travis and the next day had several souvenirs showed up for my patient to encourage him to get through his injury and recovery. Travis cares and gives back to the community in ways many do not know about. Let's show our support for him NOW!!

Of the comments so far, I have not seen any from the 10% or 1k people that oppose this event. You must have some reason or justification for your vote, maybe you some information that we don't have but I'm guessing you don't. I think it is more likely that those that are against a Nitro Circus night are just intolerant of and against anything that doesn't interest them. If there is any reason why this event will cause any problems that are greater than or different than any other Annapolis City events. Just because Nitro Circus is not your cup of tea, that doesn't give you the right to restrict n dictate what everyone else gets to drink. Especially since those that are opposed are a small minority. They seem to be another example of a small group that wants to impose their will on the majority. Maybe we can compromise and promise those opposed that safe areas will be set up and no one will be allowed to wear or display anything Pro-Trump.

Vote Yes! It is important we support this event. it is a positive message to our youth that if you put your mind to something positive you can accomplish anything.

I have been a huge fan of Nitro Circus Live for years. I have literally roadtripped around the country to see as many shows as possible. I have also attended two shows in my hometown. I have never seen any city complain of any type of disruption from before, during, or after the event. This "production" is unlike any other. It's ridiculous to deny fans the opportunity to experience it especially when there is no evidence of the accused issue.

  • Ivan - 7 years ago

Do they let the residents dictate yes/no each year regarding the boat shows? Seems they have a pretty big impact on daily life - and for more than a few hours.

  • Dawn - 7 years ago

How is this any different than the people that live across the street or around from Nats Stadium or FedEx field?? It's not!! Yuppies need to get over themselves!! Travis should absolutely be allowed and able to perform in his hometown!!!! My husband and I surprised our kids (mostly for my son, he loves anything to do with motor cross), and took them to the Nitro Curcus show last Spring at Verizon Center. It was a great show, a lot of fun, and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. No violence, no cussing....a great show!!!

If this goes through I am grabbing a hotel in Annapolis with my family and coming to town with my family for this show!

I have lived in Annapolis almost my entire life. 46 years and spent 5 of those years living in Admiral Heights. We knew what we were getting buying close to the stadium. Never a complaint. so now Jim Burdick is playing judge juror and executioner without polling his community. If he says different he is lying. Get over yourselves Ahbod. Let the town have what they want. WE are talking about a few hours of fun. Put away your misconceptions of NITRO CIRCUS and it's fans. You will ultimately lose this battle and harm your neighborhoods reputation in the process.

Not only is this a great event but Travis wants to bring it to his hometown which should trump this all. My guess is Jim Burdick is not even from Annapolis and wants to push "his" Annapolis on everyone else.

Let NITRO CIRCUS have the stage in August.

  • Mike Wulf - 7 years ago

Just thank god it's not a Kenny Chesney concert. Let them perform.

  • Chuck Davis - 7 years ago

Over 6000 people have taken the Capital newspaper poll as to whether this event should be held. Over 87.5% have responded in favor and over 10% say that Travis and Nitro Circus should at least have the opportunity to clear up any confusion the misinformed Admiral Heights Board of Directors has. For 1 or 2 groups to dictate what should or should not be held at the stadium is ridiculous and if they are not going to take the time to properly research the event then they should not be in a position to decide what does or does not come to the NAVY Stadium.
I have lived off Taylor Ave for over 37 years and have enjoyed all the cultural, entertainment and athletic events that have been hosted there. The NAAA is a great neighbor and custodian of this living memorial.
Let this poll be a guide to the AHBOD as to how small they appear to their own community and the others in Annapolis. My vote is in and I say, hey Travis, we welcome you and the Nitro Circus to Annapolis and will show our support for you, your success, accomplishments and thank you for all that you have done for this community.

I live over 4 miles from the stadium and still hear announcements and events every now and then. There is no doubt the sound of motorcycles would be miniscule in comparison to most of what the town is used to. This has never been an issue. Why would one of the world's most iconic action sports figures not be allowed to perform in his hometown when he does shows all across the county every year? We wouldn't treat Michael Phelps or Cal Ripken Jr. like this in Maryland, why is it even a discussion when it comes to Travis Pastrana? Disappointed in my city.

  • Tommy - 7 years ago

How many times do you hear about people making it in life and others crying they don't give back to there community!! Here is a young man who wants to bring back to his hometown an gets smacked in the face. I don't know this young man however some time back at a local restraunt my son an nephew knew who he was and the young man took time out to pose for photos and sign autographs and put smiles on those kids faces!!!
Come on Annapolis one night witch will be less noise than any sport event held at this empty stadium.

  • John H. - 7 years ago

I've NEVER heard about Downtown / Admiral Heights residents complaining about the Blue Angels Flying over their houses 2-3 times Every year!...Which are WAYYY LOUDER than ANY Motorcycle that Travis & his friends will be riding!..Nor have I EVER heard about a complaint about "Noise" during a Football Game...with the crowd yelling...Band Playing, & Announcer blasting over the PA for 3+ hours!..... REALLY SAD That a few crotchety, Clueless neighbors want to take the time to complain about all the "What if the noise is too Loud" Crap!.....I'm sure the show will be HALF as long as a Football Game!

  • Tommy Vendemia - 7 years ago

What is wrong with people? I live 2 blocks away from stadium. (Right outside admiral heights)
And I moved here knowing the stadium was there and all it came with it.
If this event is going to be an issue, then why can't we make an issue for all the other events that happen there.
Bayhawks ahoot fireworks off several times a year at night.
The national anthem can be heard in my bedroom at 630 when they host marathons.
Every time navy gets a first down the ship horn goes off.
How about a meaningless Bowl game with a parade that brings NO money directly to the city other then the tourism dollar.
Why are those acceptable and this event not.
Stop being muppets and deal with the fact YOU chose to live near a STADIUM that holds events.
And as a resident of the area I wish they would bring more events to this stadium. I want concerts and more events.

Shame on the people that made this decision without the proper information. The city is so lucky to have the Pastrana family in town. This family stands for so much good... quality, hard working, high integrity and passion with a tremendous amount of pride for HOME. You are depriving so many people the opportunity for a wonderful experience. I truly hope you reconsider.

  • jimi haha - 7 years ago

This town is getting more and more uptight instead of more inclusive and progressive. Taking our city back...wards, just like our country. Pathetic.

  • Pat McCullough - 7 years ago

The Pastrana family has been part of Annapolis since I've known them and beyond, I find it very hard to understand the opposition for this event, the blue angles events and the football game are without question a lot more to deal with during those events, with respect I would hope the people would give Travis the opportunity work with community organizations to make this event happen, you will not meet a more caring and sincere person hands down.
It's his town as much as it is yours, I personally have had the honor of knowing him and his mom and dad for about 20 years and he has worked hard since his childhood to be where he is today, it's only fitting that he would want to bring that to his hometown, not the outskirts of town, Travis is a hometown guy that has never forgot where he came from, thank you.

My Family attended the Nitro Circus show in Anahiem CA last year and had a blast. We saw no violence or destructive behavior of any kind. We saw family enjoying the spectacle and it was worth every penny. The ethic of the Nitro people is exemplified by the likes of Jarryd MacNiel who trains on the property where we conduct our Basic Rider Course for beginners. When he is in town, he always comes by and says hi to our students. Please consider allowing the event to take place in your town!
    Cheers,

I live in Ward 2 and support this event, just like all of the others that take place at the stadium

If blue angels, canon shooting, and triple the amount of spectators can attend a Navy football game, then I don't understand how this could be an issue to the surrounding neighborhoods.
