I was born here and the only people I see getting free school, medical, food and money
Are those who sneak in or our corrupt gov.brings here. A drain on us and our children who get no such help.
Also our children have a slim chance of a good job unless they learn Spanish because of all the illegals ,companies want multi language speaking employees..
Our politicians have sold us down the river.

I'm torn on this issue, but in the end I said NO. This is why:

These young people should NOT be penalized for crimes that their parents made. With that logic, if your mom/dad steals, YOU should also get sent to jail because your parent committed a crime. This logic is flawed. These young kids have gone through rigorous background checks, and have proved to be in the military, working, or in school. For those that say they take up resources, let me tell you something. Most of these people receive little to NO aid for school, and literally have to PAY for their education. People say "the American taxpayer gives illegals their education". NO. THEY PAYED FOR THEIR EDUCATION. They pay billions in taxes and get nothing in return. How can they? They aren't legal citizens.

The DACA recipient should be given an opportunity to at least achieve a form of permanent legal status. These are your neighbors, your coworkers, your childrens' school friends; Americans in all but name.

Should criminal aliens be deported? ABSOLUTELY YES. Should people that contribute NOTHING to this country be deported? I say YES to that as well.

BUT, for those that contribute, that have achieved degrees in the STEM field, and can have a positive impact on the economy and on the United States, they should be given a chance.

I had to give this some thought and then realized we voted Trump in office to make America first again to take care of our own. That is what we should do or our vote meant nothing.

If you are an illegal resident of the USA you and your children should be sent back. They will use the child as a soft spot on American's or any person. It is no different when you see kids in other countries begging on the streets in other countries, looking scruffy and unkept. The adults know what to do before sending their child out there, this is no different. There are and have been too many exceptions and loop holes to say that's okay....stay here. Others came here LEGALLY.....the others can do the same!

It took me a while to answer this poll. I agree with DML on most points he said in yesterday's walk/talk - and answered yes in the end; however, my hesitation stems from the dilemma I feel about the older immigrants who have been documented to be productive for our country or served well in our military. I think I would like to see a way for them to continue being productive people here - unless someone can show why that would be truly detrimental to our country. Yes, I get the fact they would occupy jobs Americans could have but our government allowed them in and they made the most of this opportunity. I feel this would be a similar policy that Canada or Australia has where they could stay if they proved that they contributed to the country. Children (under 21) should definitely be deported with their parents though as they haven't proved this fact yet and they should be taken care of by their parents or family members in their home country anyway .
My fear of deporting the older, productive immigrants may be unfounded, but I would be remiss if I didn't address it.... what will be the reaction from these people if they've been exemplary since entering the workforce, and then (in their eyes) "punished" for their good behavior? Good people can turn bad due to feelings of being unjustly attacked.

FIrstly this program should be done away with... these people are still illegal and yes how do they get to serve in military without being legal and get the benefits of other veterans that are citizens... not right at all and further this free education has to stop... not right when Americans have to pay for education and these foreignors do not (look at the medical field.. just about all of the doctors today are foreignors and got their education free to get there when others have years of debt to pay for)... this upsets me terribly and I will not go to a foreign doctor or be treated by one.. they need to be looked into as well as all these here that we know of... how did they get their education and what legal credentials do they have?

I would like to know how an illegal serves in the military?????
I would like to know how an illegal gets to go to college for free, I sure the hell didn't and so I never got to go.
Under age children should be sent back to the countries WITH THEIR PARENTS.

  • ANITA Phillips - 7 years ago

I voted yes, however anyone who served in the military should be offered a fast track to citizenship. People with NO criminal record should become citizens asap. No slackers! And, no free education!

Illegal was the key word to sway my vote. We have to be consistent with our laws concerning the legality of USA citizenship, then they can reap the benefits under our laws and their convictions to succeed.
Question: Where do these younger "dreamers" go upon entry and how can they survive up to the point of contributing to our society? I'm guessing we're paying ?

  • Dorothy rygiel - 7 years ago

Yes, yes, yes, there really is no room for them. Don't let bleeding hearts fool you. Big soft dewy eyes and sob songs are the norm for swaying the poor law abiding citizen. They will only turn out to be unproductive. As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.

  • Jennifer - 7 years ago

I think we should have a way to expedite the process for them to exit and reentry quickly and legally under our current laws.

  • Lisa Algarin - 7 years ago

I can see why President Trump is hesitant to jump on undoing DACA. He has a tender heart and since this affects children it is more emotional. I voted yes because we have to stop the bleeding and allow our own children the opportunities that illegals are getting. There has to be a healthy Balance. Senator Santorum told a dreamer on national TV to go back to her country of origin and work on coming here legally. We need to be sure to continue to distinguish between "legal" and "illegal" immigration in our conversations. I wish the media would keep it straight.

I am really torn about this, but they should have tried the one's old enough to become legal. And they or anyone coming into our Country should have to speak English. There shouldn't be anything change to acomadate anyone from another Country. My heart goes out to the one's who have really made a good life and have given back to America expecially anyone who served in the Milatery. But we can't pick and choose the laws we want to fallow. This is a very hard decision. End it and at the sametime make it so they can try to become legal right away maybe. I can see why President Trump hasn't been able to do this yet. He is a man with a big heart and loves children. Whatever he should decide I will stand with him because I trust in what he's doing.

Allow those with NO misdemeanors and Once they turn 18, or graduate, in order to continue in program, they must be willing to go through process to become US citizens

  • Virginia tharpe - 7 years ago

I voted NO but that was before I seen the 3 misdemeanor !! My answer is YES !!! Unless he can change the clause to 0 tolerance of any misdemeanor .

  • Tom Flint - 7 years ago

Minors cannot support themselves, this is required in other countries ( Canada). Twenty billion $$ in debt is the USA. If we don't survive who will help then. Not wrong to care for your self.

  • Ashley Brown - 7 years ago

I voted NO, but I'd like to hear more from DML to fully understand. I would like to see a path to citizenship for these kids. The USA is the only home they've ever known. Where would they go? They have integrated into our culture, (probably) speak English, they are being educated in our schools. It's time they become citizens. Are they wanting to stay in the US to work and build their life here? I don't know the details, so I could be making wrong assumptions.

  • Theresa - 7 years ago

While I don't think we should deport children, I think this needs to be revamped. I don't think they should keep deferring so they can stay here indefinitely, and there should be a stipulation that they become LEGAL American citizens. Give them a definite grace period in order to do so, but keep track of them, have them check in each month until they become citizens.

  • Dianne Witham - 7 years ago

The program needs to be suspended and reviewed. The people that are here should be investigated to be certain they don't pose a threat and if not they should be allowed to stay.

  • bryanpam47940 - 7 years ago

3 misdemeanors? No way! This means zero tolerance!

  • Tami - 7 years ago

The only reason why I said yes was because I see our own children dreams crushed because The government has been so concerned with these children's dreams and our children's dream has been put on the back burner for too long let's take care of our own first let's give our kids a chance please

  • Laurie - 7 years ago

It was the 3 misdemeanors that got me. Isn't that an indication of habitual and continued offense? Zero tolerance for crime.
