Absolutely! The local law enforcement SHOULD assist in finding illegal immigrants. They usually know who and who aren't part of their community. America First!!! ????????????

Yes. It's time to take our country back. They come here illegally and have baby after baby that are then deemed American. The working American tax payers foot the bills. Paying medical bills for an illegal person to have an anchor baby. Send them all back, anchor babies and all. They cry that their children are American and they shouldn't be separated. They are criminals, they broke the law when they sneak in. It's crazy. No pathway for the ones already here. Send them back and make them immigrate the legal way. Get ready to assimilate and lean English.

It's about time that local law enforcement can assist the Federal agents with finding illegal immigrants in our country. There's been a Federal law since 1996 (Illegal Immigrant Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (“IIRIRA 96″), however, previous administrations chose not to enforce it. States are required by law to to enforce Federal laws. Those states choosing not to abide by this are going against our country and should be deprived of all Federal funding and have the governor of that state prosecuted for obstruction of justice and whatever else applies in this case. The Commissioner of Police for each State reports to the president of the country, not to the State. Therefore, the police are obligated to enforce Federal law. For too long our country has turned a blind eye to illegal immigrants. No one fears deportation, businesses don't fear fines for hiring them, landlords rent to them and the welfare system welcomes them with open arms for medical assistance and housing assistance. Welfare forms are printed in Spanish and you are given a choice of whether you are a citizen or undocumented. How did illegal (which means against the law) become acceptable to even our State welfare systems? Illegals drain our resources that could be used for our own veterans, disabled and elderly citizens. Businesses pay them under the table so taxes are lost to the IRS. The burden of caring for them falls to the US taxpayer. Those, who aid and abet them, need to realize the realities of what the consequences are for aiding illegals. For too long, the laws have been ignored by the masses as well as the States and the end result is detrimental to our country.

Local Officers are hired to protect and serve, and enforce the laws if the land.

No more hand outs... Tough Love Mr.President!!

I think along with the laws being enforced as they should have been all along,I say you want to be here, you get no grant money to start a business, your not tax exempt and you get no government assistance at all....you want to be here,do it the right way and then come here, learn English and get a job just like everyone else....buy your own home wuth your own money....no more hand outs....that's why we have so many in our country now and more want to come....Trump needs to work backwards and strip them of everything the Americans are entitled to....these people have no entitlements in our country...PERIOD...

The task force should established locally to assist the feds. Who better to lead an investigation than those who work in the communities daily?

  • Anthony - 7 years ago

Maybe the police are willing to help but where told not to by the politicians in charge.

Anything it takes. I also think any immigrants even legal, that comes to the US and expects us to accept their laws instead of assimilating to our laws, are not here because they want the American way of life, should be shipped back to their own country. They can live that life there. Leave our America alone.

I believe police should because they are more than likely to come in contact with immigrants on a daily basis in their everyday job, therefore, they would be well informed on a persons statuts.

I feel our State turns a blind eye to illegal and undocumented immegration that is not good for America or legal immigrants. All federal assistance is needed.

  • WM GONZALEZ - 7 years ago

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD SET UP A SPECIAL TASK FORCE TO DEAL WITH THE ILLEGALS. LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS ENOUGH ON THEIR PLATE RIGHT NOW.

  • Liz Pickering - 7 years ago

I feel we as Americans need to do whatever is necessary to keep our country from becoming what most of Europe is now....a chaotic mess!!

  • Jody Huntsman - 7 years ago

I voted yes! Police need more help! Enforce the law!

  • Sherrie Ocasio - 7 years ago

I think they will be overwhelmed in some areas more than others. I would much rather create a new task force that can focus on this issue and serve it appropriately. I do not believe most illegals are bad people. There is a difference between violent criminal intent and just wanting to live. These situations must be handled differently.

They are on the front lines let them do their jobs finding these people wh have escaped early detaination because of 8 prev years of lawlessness.

  • Joshua Villemez - 7 years ago

Yes, the police should step in. They should step in anything illegal. The word illegal means against the law so why would they not step in against illegal immigrants? Americans are sick of paying high taxes to support these people who can come here for free, pay no taxes, vote illegaly and take our jobs. NO More!!!! Enough of this. We want our country back.

  • Amanda Dani - 7 years ago

Yes enforce! Do your job please. I have worked with an entire crew of illegals employed for the back of the house positions in restaurants up in the Chicago area and it's unfair they get to evade taxes (and so does the employer aka tax evasion) while the rest of us legal citizens had to pay out in them. Also I don't want my tax money paying for something I can't even provide for myself - schooling. Sorry if I'm paying for anyone's schooling, it will be my own in order to get a career in life to make up for the taxes I have to pay while they don't. Seriously enforce the laws already, don't be a pussy department.

Immigration is one of the few areas the Constitution gives the federal government control over, rather than the states, as it is a national issue, not merely one for individual states. Given that, the states are required, by law, to enforce & assist in enforcement, of federal laws. Of all the federal laws the states seem willing to support & enforce, this is the most essential. Local & state police are REQUIRED to enforce federal immigration laws as part of their contract with the United States, as states. This is elemental & cannot be questioned.
