  I bought the LG Ultrafine 5k Display and overall am disappointed. I have noticed SEVERAL freezing issues with my 2016 Macbook Pro with Touchbar when plugged into the display, the display is wobbly, doesn't look as good because its frame/case is plastic (as opposed to Apple's aluminum display), seems to have slightly POORER speaker quality than the old Mac Thunderbolt displays (as a side note the volume increments seem to be way too significant - one click makes it way too loud or too quiet - and I have to use command + shift + volume to do a quarter click up or down...annoying).

  I wouldn't have bought this display nearly as readily had A) Apple not put it's seal of approval behind it and B) if I thought Apple might come out with another display of it's own and C) if I could have gotten my new Macbook Pro to work with not only my old Apple Cinema display but also my old third party monitor from Lenovo. I'm not an overly cost sensitive shopper when I buy Apple products because they perform well and last a long time. However, I feel like I'm learning the hard way that an "Apple Partnership" means nothing compared to an "Apple Product." Sad times. :(

  I have a brand new 2017 MacBook Pro TouchBar 13" and a LG Ultrafine 5K. My previous set-up was a 2014 MacBook Pro 13" with an Apple Thunderbolt Display.

  Pros of the new setup:
  1 cord for everything
  Display image is beautiful

  Cons of the new setup:
  Laptop freezes if I restart while connected to the LG (this never happened with my old setup)
  I get image artifacts (cursor and arrow) that "stick" on the display; only go away on a restart
  LG monitor wobbles even when I type, it is shaky (Thunderbolt display is like a tank)
  Super expensive for this problems to come through

  I want Apple to release a display that has an integrated PCIe slot and room (and power and cooling) for a full size desktop GPU so users can optionally add a high end desktop GPU to whatever machine they connect to the display via Thunderbolt 3.

  I'm holding out for an updated iMac and would display images on it while using my existing Apple cinema display for the Adobe app menus. If no iMac update arrives by mid-year I will most likely purchase a windows workstation and a 4K monitor which would also mean leaving the Apple ecosystem for phone and tablet when my existing ones reach end-of-life.

  Give LG a brak, products mishaps happen from time to time. A shielding issue can be easily sorted, this doesn't warrant Apple quickly getting back into the display market. If I recall correctly, Apple have had issues in the past after an initial product launch

  I have ordered the MacBookPro 2016 with 2 LG Ultrafine displays.
  They give exactly what I wanted: a crisp and clear image. Retina sharpness., with no more pixels. No interference in the bezel. Height adjustable, which the TB screen lacked.
  More importantly I am having no issues at all.

  I am a huge apple fan. I have the MacBook Pro and I use it for work. I do a lot of mapping and the apple is great for this work. I would love to apple return to displays and bring a 4K or 5k to market
