Should the 49ers trade for Kirk Cousins?

While trading for cousins makes sense it doesn't for the 49ers. If they had a team with building blocks already in place say like the Broncos or Texans then I would say pull the trigger. However that isn't the case. If he is franchised the two 1st they would have to give up are valuable assets that could help the team get better. So what you got Kirk but now you have an atrocious team with an good not elite QB and no assets to help him.

Next the 49ers owner is a moron who needs to stop hiring make shift GMs who can't manage their way out of a paper bag let alone a NFL team.

If the 49ers were smart they should trade out of the 2nd pick and acquire more assets in future drafts to build the team or have enough assets to convince the Patriots to give them Jimmy G who is a young QB that won't be pressured to win now and have more time to grow with a younger roster.

Trading for cousin would do nothing but add fuel to the dumpster fire that is SF. If they, can't get Jimmy G go into the season with Colin maybe shananhan can get more out of the once seen savior of the franchise if not tank the season and get a stud QB prospect in 2018.

They should trade for Cousins, sign him to six years, and draft Brad Kaya in the second. Even if Kaya earns the starting job as a sophomore (or rookie) you'll still need a worthwhile QB backup, as the Dolphins taught us this year.
I also think the synergy of having not Kyle Shanahan, or Kirk, but both of them is an entity unto itself. QB circuses in big media markets get ugly, ask Rex and Sanchez. If he's got a comfort zone like Cousins he can take a chance and be patient. If he's got Christian Ponder that rookie needs to walk in the door hot to trot. Thatch your roof while the sun is shining by cutting every QB on the roster and bringing in Cousins so you may work the draft on it's own terms.

So, here's why Kirk Cousins shouldn't be traded for:

-Two (2) first round picks are given up (net loss).
-The 49ers are a complete mess. It's unlikely a single player (yes even a QB) will turn them to break-even or winning team in the first season.
-They have a completely new coaching staff.
-Any resources to build around in the near future are significantly reduced.

My estimate for the 49ers record (next 2 years) for the 49ers and letter grade for this trade:
    6-10
    7-9

    Letter grade: D
