Do you support the deportation of "Dreamers," a.k.a. kids who came here illegally at no fault of their own?

Children born of illegal alien parents already attempt to use the 14th Amendment to justify their claim of citizenship when the 14th Amendment had nothing to do with citizenship in general. The 13th Amendment gave the slaves (White and Black - and indentured servants) freedom. The 14th Amendment gave Black Slaves - who were treated as property - the new title of person and it also included their posterity. the phrase - all PERSONS born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction of same are citizens, was limited to Black Slaves and their posterity - only. the 15th Amendment gave former slaves the right to vote. As for children born of illegal alien parents, they are citizens of their parents nation of birth and not citizens of the USA - whether they were brought here or born here. the exclusionary Clause of the 14th amendment clearly tells every honest person - that children born of diplomats, aliens, foreigners, or children born of an invading army - are not citizens. Indeed, Senator Howard Jacobs, the Senate author of the 14th Amendment stated clearly - that: nothing having to do with our citizenship laws has changed. It still take a citizen to make a citizen. To be sure, people today will argue that the 14th Amendment grants BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP - when indeed - IT DOES NOT!! These advocates to revise history and the intent of the 14th Amendment have no ability to place themselves into the mid-1860's and participate in the debate in an environment that was extremely hostile, demanding and chaotic, having just concluded the War Between the States, followed closely be the assassination of Lincoln while having to confront 11 very agitated southern legislatures all of which had Constitutions that allowed for the ownership of slaves. However, the legislative language of that day clearly illuminates the discussions had - and there is no discussion that validates the claims being made today in defense of children born of illegal alien parents on U.S. soil as being citizens of the USA. Such is not the case and has never been the case and remains a figment of those who advocate for that interpretation. Indeed, there is absolutely NO case law from the SCOTUS or lower courts that support such a position and their is absolutely NO constitutional reference - anywhere - that supports such a position. And for those waiving the papers of the Wong Ark decision....that case was miscast. The parents were Chinese nationals who were legally in the USA and who owned a business. the son in question was also an alien resident who went to China and upon his return was refused entry back into the USA and was ordered returned to China. However, because China automatically sentenced its nationals to death, were they to become citizens of another nation, the case was favorable ruled in the son's favor - so that his deportation was stopped and he was allowed back into the USA, being wrongfully Identified as a citizen. Again, the 14th Amendments exclusionary clause does not extend citizenship to children born of Diplomats, aliens, foreigners, or children born of members of an invading army. The Policy used to extend birthright citizenship to children born of illegal alien parents is a misrepresentation of the 14th Amendment and is not applicable in any cases as set forth in the Exclusionary clause of the 14th Amendment. It is a policy without constitutional authority and is not ground in Statute, Law, Rule, or Regulation. Indeed, it is void of any legal credibility. The substance of the question is moot. DACA and DAPA aliens - have NO Constitutional basis to be granted any special privileges - under existing laws - and to be sure, the Courts have no legal jurisdiction to grant them any standing should they decide to take the issue to any Federal Court.

Deport them all get in line behind the others. We have kids and they do not get short cuts in life. No more free rides illegal is illegal. Send them home.

Laws are laws everyone has to follow them. Sucks to be in that situation but laws have to be enforced.

They can go home and make their home country great. We have done enough for them already. Time for them to pay us back.

  • Cynthia - 7 years ago

Phased out, are they supporting themselves, are they criminals, are they getting an education at our expense? (I had to pay for my children), so many people come here for an education but don't go back to their country to try to improve things there, if many of those people would return they could make a difference in those countries.

It might not be their fault, but it isn't my fault they choose to bring them. I can't afford my own family.

I agree with phasing out the program and while a dreamer is still in the program they can work at becoming a citizen, pay their tuition and other expenses just like American kids have to do. If they don't want to do that, free passage back to wherever they come from and they are not to return. The other problem we have here in El Paso are the kids that were born here and abandoned, or toddlers just left here. We have shelters where these kids have been raised, they have names, not legal, they can't qualify for anything, they have no known origins. Non profit groups help to provide but now the kids are approaching legal age but they can't get a job, if they leave the shelter they're on the street. This is an entirely different problem than "dreamers" these are abandoned kids with no names, no origin, no legal direction. They cannot be adopted, cannot do anything without an identity. This is another problem that needs a light shined on it.

They need to go back to their own country and go make it great, and if they would like to come back they need to get in line. They certainly do not deserve anymore benefits than Americans do or any legal immigrant.

Illegal is illegal. In regards to the children unfortunately we need to draw a firm line with them as well. If we allow any of them to stay for any reason then the others will have a reason to fight for why they should also stay. It's very unfortunate we have come to this position but we need to be firm if we are going to put our safety first.

Illegal is illegal. Send them back to apply to come legally.

  • Debbie Pasquale - 7 years ago

All ILLEGAL immigrants need to be deported and then come back the legal way. No funding, no insurance, no special treatment. Put all refugees in SAFE zones in Syria. America is a mess and until we get our country in order and out of deficit, no waste of money on things that are not priorities. Our military, police, veterans, inner cities and homeless must be taken care of First. We MUST have everify for employment, voter id and cleanup of voter rolls and stop drugs from coming in from a weak boarder. All ILLEGALs OUT!

  • Susan - 7 years ago

I think the kids that are actively enrolled in the program now should be allowed to finish. No new applicants the program gets phased out. Then they face whatever the immigration laws require.

I'm for sending all illegals back, no matter where they came from and also pulling all free funding from them. People don't realize how much money they get paid to live here, no more free food, housing, education, healthcare or cash benefits and they will self deport.

  • Debbie - 7 years ago

I think it depends on what they are doing and how old they were when they came. If they came over as young children and are now contributing adults then they should be allowed to stay. If they came over as adults they should have to get their citizenship in order to stay. If they are here causing trouble and involved in gangs, send them home!!!

  • Patrick - 7 years ago

Once the people have been sent home they will bring all of what they've learned in the US back to their home country. Image the positive forces that will be unleashed into Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador etc!!! Yes, these are hard decisions to make but in the big picture lots of positives. Give DACA kids a position near the top of the line in their home country to come back to US legally.

  • John - 7 years ago

Illegal is illegal and we have already seen several of these so-called dreamers that are involved with the gangs

  • Terri - 7 years ago

Dreamers need to be vetted and if they are contributing they need to apply for citizenship if they want to stay. Otherwise, deport them. We have children and vets who need our help first. My opinion.

  • theresa - 7 years ago

I would say depends on age, what are they doing , are they grown and in college or some type of school are they making something of there life? Are they sitting on there butt. not doing anything.
