GOAT Of The Week For Feb. 24, 2017
Randy Levine -- The Yankees’ president ripped into Dellin Betances on a conference call with reporters following the team’s arbitration win; Levine said Betances allowed his agents to use him in an attempt to “change a well-established market” for relief pitchers, and that the $5 million Betances asked for “might (as well) have been $50 million”
Yankees -- Tickets that sell for $10 per game (except for Opening Day and Aug. 12) have been priced at $90 each for Derek Jeter Night
MLB -- has decided to “eliminate” intentional walks in an apparent effort to speed up games. Now, instead of throwing pitches, only a signal or announcement from the dugout will be required (like in recreational softball)
The NBA All-Stars -- Neither team even tried to play defense (both sides shot well over 50 percent) during Sunday’s game in New Orleans, where the Western Conference outlasted the Eastern Conference, 192-182. The 374 total points was an All-Star game record
Vlade Divac -- The Sacramento Kings’ VP/GM has been raked over the coals for trading All-Star forward DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans for a package that “only” included Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, and two draft picks
Darrelle Revis -- The Jets’ star cornerback could face NFL suspension after being arrested on felony assault charges following an early morning incident in Pittsburgh that left two other men knocked unconscious
