A sports team is not a video game: you can't load up on superstars and win consistently. There is a human factor. In saying that, signing Lucic was the single biggest move that the Oilers made this season. Hall is gone now so McDavid can blossom as a leader with Lucic as hatchet man for him. Would you not do what he says? I hear he's a bit like Messier in the locker room, but is happy being #2. Also, the guy has actually won something in his career and will kill it in the playoffs guaranteed. Watch how he won't be that far away from Hall's point totals either!

I didn't like the signing at the time. His effectiveness has been in doubt this season and erosion is to be expected over the term of the contract. I'm worried that RNH's and Lucic's contact will be major constraints against the salary cap. Eberle and Pouliot will at least be off the books sooner of the underperformers.
Hoping to be proved wrong.

inconsistently performs at a level that was unfairly , and perhaps 'over sold' to the fans ...but just his presence delivers in a number of ways that don't make headlines
