Will the Oilers actually make the playoffs?

Soft schedule for the rest of the season, playing against teams outside of the playoff picture. With the Bettman points and LA in the tank, .500 record = playoffs.

The dynamics of the Division are not favourable: SJS, ANA, CAL, all winning just when the Oil are skidding.

It's not unthinkable that these trends (above) might continue for a while. Calgary's win streak will of course end, but that will not necessarily end the general uptrend the Flames are on. Edmonton, by fault of sticking with line combos that are clearly not working, is "throwing away" a good chance to finish 2nd in the Division (earning home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs).

Opening on the road, in San Jose, appears most likely for the Oilers - assuming they don't fail to qualify for the playoffs between now and the end of Game 82.

1 good game, 3 or 4 bad ones is not going to cut it. I said after that week off that they will be lucky to make the playoffs, and if they do only having 1 line doing ok is not going to win any games. My question is this, how do you get up and play the one of your best games all year againt the Pens and two nights later stink out the place, knowing that you are desperate for points. This team just doesnt get it. And shoot the puck wow just shoot the puck. Having said that hit the net my god klefbom, sekera hit the net, you are all grown men playing pro hockey you should have gotten that down in bantams. Be very lucky to make it and if this is all the intensity and desperation they can bring, going to be a very quick 4 games
