@Ricky - You're wrong. If the role of the Federal Government was "to protect those who need help the most", then that would create a never-ending, over-reaching, under-funded government because there would always exist someone who needed help more than others in every form of human activity, and there would never be enough taxes collected for the government to be able to help them.. Is that really the kind of government that you support?

The role of the Federal Government is simply to provide national security, protect individual liberty, and to provide a system of Law&Order.

Tomi's perspective is very consistent. She sees abortion as a personal issue, and although she's against it, doesn't want to solve this argument through Federal Intervention. Neither does she want the Federal Government to support abortions through taxation. She believes that no one should be forced to pay for someone else's abortion.

I've also watched Tomi's previous video about abortion on Red State, and it is not any different than the position she offered on The View. She ideally supports a limited Federal Government, and abortion is an issue that lies beyond the responsibilities of Tomi's ideal Federal Government.

Toni's philosophy is inconsistent. She views abortion as a women's rights issue. Abortion opponents view the matter as giving a voice to the voiceless - the unborn.

Abortion is many shades and not a black and white issue. But if we can agree that the role of Government is to protect those that need help the most - then philosophically, one must understand that after some point after conception (at which point is certainly debatable) the decision for abortion is essentially a legal killing of a human.

To see NOW and Planned Parenthood etc rally for "choice" is an abomination of decency and morality. To hear Obama say "God bless Planned Parenthood" is just a soul crushing joke.

We need to realize - as a nation that calling abortion a "choice" issue is trivializing the murder of the unborn.

Now - in situations where there are issues to the health of the mother - the health of unborn baby etc. let's have compassion and understand medically necessary action.

That said one can not and should not be for elective abortion.

Tomi needs to reflect on this and see the error of her philosophy.
