Have your plans for your Model 3 reservation changed?

Since Elon did not specifically say "NO" when asked whether M3 will have HUD...I am hopeful that we will all be pleasantly surprised with a HUD.
Think about it and use your common sense...if Elon wants to keep that news about M3 having HUD a secret, he would answer the direct question that was asked exactly the way he answered it...He neither affirmed or denied the HUD question instead, he deferred the question by asking another question.
Elon's reply was to ask the question...how often do we look at the speedometer and other gauges when we're passengers and not driving ourselves.
He deflected the question instead of answering it by neither affirming or denying the HUD rumor that he wants to surprise the world with...and, he did it masterfully.
So, I'm still optimistic that M3 along with all new MS and MX will all be available with HUD.

I live in PA, I need AWD. If more options from other auto makers pop up before the dual motor 3 then I'd have to take a look.

I'll wait for an AWD M3 with a minimum range of 200 miles under all temperature and weather extremes. For now, I'll experiment with aftermarket HUD systems in my current ICE car, a 2011 Ford Fiesta. Clearly, Elon's dangle of a soon to be discontinued M60D was not meant for people or plebiscites like me, though I do see many parallels with my dealings with "Joe," the Solar City, now Tesla Energy salesman.

Disappointed! I have two reserved and didn't expect delivery to the U.K. until late 2018. I plan to buy rather than lease and tick most of the option boxes. The big let down for me is the lack of HUD and max 75kwh pack. The model S and X are too big and expensive for me but great cars. I have been running an i3 for three years, great car but poor range. As mine are RH drive, i have a long wait anyway so I will see how the model 3 pans out before making a final decision.

The appeal for me was the idea of having a high performance car for around 70k. If that is no longer possible, the car is no longer appealing to me. A tesla 60 is a nice car but not my idea of high performance. I think the unveil part 3 never happened because there was concern of letting people down. These tweets are probably a way to see what the reaction will be. Im still hoping a high performance model 3 will be an option. Otherwise I am canceling and purchasing a alfa romeo quadrifoglio.

This poll lack the option "Haven't cancelled, but definitely looking for an alternative"

It's stupid to cancel the reservation... It's a ticket that you may need in the future. We have no guarantee there'll be a better alternative. I hope so, but I don't know. I'm not at all hyped on Model 3 anymore. :/ But what else is there to buy, that is electric?

Cancelled and bought Model S 90D. Need the range and safer car (than ICE or M3 with rear wheel drive) since live in Wisconsin.

I'm interested in buying the model 3 because it's affordable. If I could afford the model S I'd buy it and I think most people that reserved did because of affordability. May have a few rich people of thought it was the next model but I doublt that.

Ok, yes, I am going to wait. A bit disappointed, though, as all along we have told that supposedly Tesla does not hold back on its state of the art technology for its new lower priced cars. But, from Elon Musk's recent tweets it sounds like yes, indeedy, some important cutting edge tech will be held back for the Model 3 such as higher mileage battery power. Still, I will wait and see.
    Here's to a rip roaring wonderful 3!

I will wait for AWD option as well as trailer towing package. I eagerly await to see what options WILL be available when they are finally into production. The MS and MX are too pricey and have far more "whiz-bang" features that I can live without at this time. However, if the remaining MS 60 had a starting price under 42,500 I would have considered it. In WA state that would qualify for a tax exemption on the first 32,000 and that is not peanuts. (especially when combined with $7500 Fed tax credit. I would have gone for a MS60D, but for the moment I have settled on a 2017 Volt which qualifies for ALL of the breaks that are available to me at this time. Meanwhile, I quietly await the Model 3.

The only thing that will make me cancel my model 3 reservation, is if it doesn't have a proper dashboard/speedo etc, but in that case, I won't be buying any Tesla.

  • peter - 7 years ago

and Elon also says his technology is always improving, and those who bought early will often miss out on the latest, like Autopilot 2, by the time the Model 3 is released, or is more mature, it may well surpass the current model S.

Still going to wait for the model 3 as the model s is way out of my price range even at the base price. I just want a nice car to get me to and from work in comfort with minimal cost or pollution. I don't care about Awd or the door handles (which the Aston Martin style look better IMO) Just hope they will meet deadlines and some of the 400k+ people back out.

I cant find the option still buying model 3 and also model x or s, I orderd the model x p100d after i was offered a test drive of model x p90d last summer. After the test drive i never ever buy a diesel/gas car. My x is delayed but maybe 2 weeks to go. Model 3 reservation stays and become our second car.

  • Alex - 7 years ago

It is not one Tesla versus other Tesla. For me it is Tesla versus other cars. I'll wait for an affordable Tesla because I am already committed not to buy another NEW ICE car. The only NEW car I will buy going forward will be electric. And it will still be a CAR, not an electric toy for kids.

  • Mike - 7 years ago

It's not Model S vs Model 3... it's Model S vs TWO Model 3's. I could literally buy one Model 3 for myself and one for my wife for the same cost. Like "less expensive" isn't even a consideration for most people? Model S or Model 3...and actually send my kids to college. It's a tough choice!

  • Morris Green - 7 years ago

Well, I'll still buy a Model 3 but yes, my plans have changed too. I'll buy the rear wheel drive rather than the AWD so I can get the car sooner, which is more important than traction in the 1 to 2 weeks of snow we get. Besides, snow tires do very well on my Leaf FWD so I don't expect a huge difference. Going all electric sooner (I'm replacing an ICE car) is more important than the details of which options are available at that time.

  • Bryan - 7 years ago

Totally agree, a smaller, more nimble car is good. This will be a second Tesla for us and my wife's primary car. The MS is too big for her needs. We'll use my MS for long trips.

The only thing throwing me off is the display, it looks like an afterthought. I could do without the large screen, just put a standard cluster in there, with the basic information I need. I don't need GPS, or backup camera, or blind spot warning, or the self driving thing. or any other option that takes away from the DRIVING experience. I like to drive, that's it. That's all. I'll buy the less attractive Bolt if it gives me what I want. But I'm willing to wait to see if the feedback produces any changes.

  • Twscrap - 7 years ago

This poll needs another option- 'keeping my reservation AND getting a 60D'...

  • JohnInSDCA - 7 years ago

Want smaller car, more nimble, and dual motors
