GOAT Of The Week For March 31, 2017
Knicks -- Supposedly in “tank” mode to better their draft lottery chances, the Knicks built a 20-point lead (for only the fourth time all season) Monday night on their way to a 109-95 win over the playoff-contending Detroit Pistons at MSG
Phil Jackson -- The Knicks’ president blew off a chance to scout UCLA vs. Kentucky in the NCAA tournament’s South Regional semifinals in Memphis, and instead attended the dedication of a Shaquille O’Neal statue outside Staples Center in Los Angeles
Joakim Noah -- The Knicks’ forward will have to serve a 20-game suspension after testing positive for a banned substance found in some over-the-counter supplements
Cleveland Cavaliers -- Their 103-74 loss to the Spurs on Monday night was the defending champs’ second defeat in a row and dropped them to 6-9 in the month of March
Henrik Lundqvist -- The Rangers’ goalie gave up 5 goals in each of his first two games back from a hip injury; Saturday’s 6-3 loss in Anaheim was followed by a 5-4 OT defeat on Monday in San Jose
Bernie Kosar -- The former NFL quarterback came under fire for his attempted joke about ex-San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dwight Clark’s recent ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) diagnosis, saying he believes the illness could be traced back to Clark’s four subpar seasons as general manager of the Cleveland Browns (they went 21-43 from 1999-2002)
