I live in the first ward of Allentown Pa and I see it and am asked first hand about buying $50.00 of food stamps for $30.00 cash many times from these so called poor people, I se poor children leaving the grocery store at lunch time with a can of soda and some kind of snack, I have also seen $25.00 or better of legal food stamp items on counter being rung up and the food stamp person walking out the store with cartons of cigaretts, all this first hand, these poor people are also dealing drugs which i have reported many times to vice at least 10 years now and it keeps going on so do they the so called poor people need food stamps, yes some do that are not playing the system, i did witness first hand the real poor that needed assistance. The system should come to a complete halt and make it mandatory that anybody who really needs assistance no matter what type should have to go through an inspection once a year just like when we get our car inspected and they have to show how many times that they tried to get a job and were turned down for what ever reason at least three times, and let the true poor or handicap person receive the benefits that we the taxpayers pay for instead of giving to the trash that does not deserve it

Dear Morning Call, do you know what hubris means? Do you know what good journalism means? Presenting facts which can be documented is good journalism. Soliciting opinions without supporting facts provides a forum for subjective, biased opinions. Unfortunately, the greater number of theses voters who agree with an untruth only perpectuates the lie. Check out the statistics. You had the opportunity to correct this misconception. Now you are part of the problem. I am ashamed of you.

Shame on you, Morning Call, for allowing this opportunity for your readers to indulge their bias. Most of your readers (myself included) are not qualified to answer this question with any authority, and by giving them the opportunity to do so, all you're doing is providing a venue for people to voice their (generally) uneducated opinion without any encouragement for your readers to educate on them on who gets food stamps and why. Instead of informing readers, you're creating an environment that will likely become hostile -- for what? Clicks?
