I have said this many years, but more so lately. I have biracial nieces and nephews. I see them as relatives whom I love, however, I do see a difference. For example, when applying for early college in my son's small Catholic school, my son was not accepted, but 5 out of 7 got accepted. 4 were nonwhite. One was white. Application process was supposed to be a lottery, but you had to include race. Hmmmm.... just one example.

We ALL have American Privilege and that's a fact! Only libs have conditioned people to divide by race and view everything from a victim-based mentality. It's sad how many in the USA don't realize how good this country is and don't understand true oppression. White Privilege is a well manufactured myth. The media makes a fortune off of pushing thaf rhetoric. Privilege is a relative word and could be used for all kinds of things. Fat vs Thin, Tall vs Short, has sight does not have sight, has good health does not have good health. You can make the case about privilege over anything if you try hard enough.

I voted, Yes, but it bothers me to phrase it that way because it sounds Victim-Like. Instead, I'd like to see a poll asking "As a White American in 2017, do you feel like you have to apologize for being white, does it enrage you that you have to teach your children that the world isn't against blacks. It's propaganda and they DO NOT deserve any special treatment, nor does anyone. And, most important, as a poor, White American single mother of twin teen boys, when the hell is there going to be someone who starts An American Caucasian College Fund??? No. I'm not a racist. Not one bit. I'm a mut, my sons' friends are multi racial. I just can't stand anyone who thinks they're owed anything. This World has gone mad and I've had enough. I can't even watch the news
    I only follow you. SMH...

Let's not forget BET, JET magazine, all black colleges, and the NAACP (and the equivalent Latino versions). It's ok to have TV shows AND movies with All BLACK cast and crew. Can you imagine the wrath rained down on the heads of whites if they dared to do the same?

Hi DML, Can you please include the count of how many people voted? These % could be 10 people or 1000 people. Makes a difference.

    Thank you!

I voted yes, and it would have horrified me two decades ago. I am of Italian heritage: 2nd and 3rd generation. I was always taught to respect others, not to judge them by the color of their skin, but by their actions (not their words). I am 59 years old. When I was a senior in high school (1975), I remember other Italian classmates who wanted to pursue a career in medicine. They couldn't get scholarships because Italians didn't qualify only minorities did. A number of my classmates had to go to school in Italy to get a medical degree. It was egregious then, but so much more so now! This crap about demonizing white people is outrageous! ...and, by the way, my ancestors were in Italy when slaves were brought to America...my family owes them nothing!

There definitely are more perks available to non white people. Heck, non citizens get more than legal citizens!

Ever since I was about little kid growing up in north western new York I've watched black's abuse the welfare program, popping out little bastards for more money, the father's of the bastards driving Cadillacs while the little bastards had only a drunk whore mother who taught them how to lie, cheat and steal, then the cycle began again. And they want to blame white people for their messed up ways of living while popping out little bastards to increase that freaking Check for gas money for the gas guzzler caddy, and baby dads bar tab

    Dennis,

I am the wife of a White police officer. I am a Latina and he has told me of instances where he gets called names just because he is White. Funny thing is when he mentions he is married to a Latina how it changes people's attitude. This whole race thing was brought up again by Obama to bring resistance and disturbance to our country. I wish people would see with their eyes what he did to this country. We are Americans first and we need to take our country back.

It's only going to get worse, buckle up and hold on. DML, you should do a story on that hate group out there that believes Whites should pay reparations to the blacks for all they've done to them in the past. I'm sorry I can't remember what they call themselves. Bottom line is....United States of America...we are our own worse enemies. It's all written out in black and white in the scriptures. Scary times ahead, best thing to do is get with one with your God.

All white people are not racist and all blacks are not racist but in today's society it doesn't matter because if you don't believe what the elite want you to believe you are the minority I don't like living in this society it reminds of my days as a little girl is a some Georgia town that this was a every day battle so I pray that God will heal our country and her citizens.God bless all of God's children may we all know his love AMEN

Voted yes cause every time I turn around it's all about black lives matter and how much we are racist. All these highways named after blacks and then they are taking down the monuments of confederation and flags Then I feel we should take away things that represent blacks. Sad to say I would almost be happy to see the kkk relevant again!!!!!! Let's make it equal for everyone except for the ones that are illegal I in my town always see the blacks living so well &white people working and hardly making it ... I would be at work and see these people come in with food stamps & ebt living well and it's just not fair for the American hard worker. Tired of my taxes paying for these kind of people

Many years ago when my son was a toddler he needed eye surgery my employer only offered vision insurance to employees. I was a single mom people told me to file for medical assistance for him. I was denied and the case worker told me if we wete black it would have been approved. She also said uf I repeat that she would deny it. I feel this liberal/socialism agenda is bringing back racial divide.

In my 63 years on this earth I have seen the changes of excepting and tolerating the differences in people of color. We're on the right path until the past few decades and it began to decline. Never did I think that we would see what has happened to the human race over the past decade. Did we forget our past and the history of this country and of the world? I am not encouraged but what I see in colleges and in the media today. Why do the liberals not want to find a middle ground and live in peace? What is all the anger and hate coming from? We are responsible for our actions and our life's no one else. I am hated because Imy skin is white but I am more then white, I am Irish, German, and American Indian. So many of us are more then white, or black or brown. It is our differences that make us special and unique, not our skin color.

White people have no rights now days. We are still blamed for slavery that happened over 100yrs ago. I have never owne slaves my grandparents didnt own slaves and neither did their parents. We have no highways named after any white people and any monument or anything else to do with a white person must go. It gets really old for suffering for something that happened so long ago that most if not all white people living today had nothing to do with. White people have no rights in todays society its all about how every other race it treated so bad. With my income im probably considered to be close to poverty but yet im not entitled to any assistance. I cant find even a part time job because they are required to hire a person of color any color but white. So yes i consider white people have no rights anymore we are the under dogs. There are as many whites arrested and killed by the police as any other color or race but white people matter so little that we don't even make the news.

I said yes.... and do on you know something., almost everytime race becomes a problem it start being a problem because of the democratics. They started slavery, KKK, Black Live Matter, fight against our police and now how white have everything and bring other races down. The democrats are liers and users they use EVERY race one time or another if it benefits them. They don't care about anyone but themself because they are assholes and they want control, and money, and power. As you can see now the lie to keep what they want and don't care how they get it or who they hurt and even kill to get it it.

  • Sharon LiPira - 7 years ago

I was brought up like you were Dennis. I always saw every person for who they are as a person, not their skin color . When my daughter was probably 7 years old, she is now in her 30's, she heard a relative make a comment about a black person, and right in that moment, she spoke up and said " why did you say that? Martin Luther King was a good person and so are all the other black people " . That was a proud parent moment for me . In that moment I knew that I was raising my child in the same way I was raised ???????? We are all God's children . I too, have had friends throughout my life of all colors, but I never saw them as different from me, I just saw them as my friends !

Years ago in Sunday school, our teacher asked a question of us teens. The answer was reverse discrimination. I seemed to be the only one who answered and understood what it means. In the south where I grew up, there have been many instances of this against me. It wasn't until I moved to a Midwest state that this didn't seem as prevalent. So yes, we are treated unfairly. By the minorities and sometimes our own race.

  • Peter W. - 7 years ago

I voted "yes" but struggled with that response. Today I hear more and more of this white privilege but in years past not so much. I always thought that Affirmative Action was the leveling block for minorities level out the playing field. Was this not enough? I see many minorities who have successfully utilized this program and are better off for it. Why now is there a perception of white privilege?

And if you're conservative, you're the lowest of the low, you're deplorable and irredeemable.

  • Karen Moore - 7 years ago

Since Obamas been President, racism against whites has skyrocketed. Everything in this country is getting out of hand. Thanks to the Brainwashing of our children from the schools.

  • Ernie Botelho - 7 years ago

There are classes of "oppression" in our culture. For example, if you're a black LGBT woman, you're more oppressed than say a straight black man, for example. We have these different levels of victimhood in our society and it seems your get to wear a bigger badge for how much more of a victim you are. It seems that the most hated, least sympathized with group these days is the white middle class American Christian heterosexual male. If you are all of those things, then you are offensive, you are the oppressor.

Prejudice has gone the other direction. I am Caucasian I went into a Mexican Restaraunt in Galveston TX At 2 am in the morning it was busy the owner told us they were closed so we left and as we were leaving a family was going in and they were served all the patrons were Mexican.????????
