I am an umpire for the local Cal Ripken league in my hometown. Over the years there has been a substantial increase in the amount of parents yelling at their kids unmercifully as well as the officials. I attribute this to most of the time the parent has not played that particular sport or no sports at all and are "living their own lives through their kid". So many parents don't know the rules of the game but yet will scream and holler at officials and their own kids. There has to be a stop made somewhere. I wouldn't want to go to my child's game and not be able to cheer them on but so many others don't cheer, they simply belittle their children and cause problems. It is well meaning parents but the parent just doesn't know how to be a parent evidently.
