Lack of common sense, fires caused by and houses burned down due to stupid idiots setting them off on a patio or porch, inches from a house or garage. No laws can prevent ignorance and stupidity or lack of common sense.

In the late 80s I lived in Missouri for a couple years or so, fireworks totally legal and sold 365 days a year. Hardly ever heard them going off at 2 or 3 am. For Iowa it is something new, I think once the new wears off, it will pass, the late hours and that. Friends and I on the 4th of July down there at that time, we got some and went to a remote area out in the country, we were camping, fishing on private land out in a wooded area and we set them off out there in the middle of a gravel road right at dark, hardly ever heard any when we were home in town. We have a private camping area here in Iowa now, owned by realities way out in the country and the owners do a fireworks display on 4th of July weekend. That's it for us. It looks almost like a professional show when they are set off over the lake. It's irresponsibility and lack of common sense that ruins it for everybody.

If people had more common sense and courtesy and others not so anally retentive we would not need so much government and policing . Remember the "golden rule'.

People took advantage of the new law for fireworks ,If they were more responsible, maybe it could work. But they shot them off every night because they knew the police couldn't catch all of them. And Gov. Brandstad is in China now so he isn't bothered by the fireworks
