My tax refund always goes into a savings account and bonds!! I don't blow it on needless material items like most people.

Honestly, this poll saddens me because I know the majority of Americans are in the same boat as myself. I am 49 years old , and a business owner. I built and opened my cabin resort in 2007 not realizing that the economy would crash in 2008. I have not seen daylight yet. I have put my entire life's savings into keeping this place afloat. If it weren't for my family helping me through, I would have had to close the doors and lose everything. I currently have just over $300 in my personal checking account, NO SAVINGS account. This is all the money I have, and my commercial account is lucky to keep a balance of 10k on a monthly basis. The future scares the crap out of me. Even if I sell, with the market being what it is, I will be lucky to break even. I have no retirement, absolutely nothing. Fear is mounting.

I maximize my 401k but that's it. With 3 kids going to college, it isn't going to get better for at least 4 years.

I am able to save a little each month because my work offers a company matched IRA. But I am almost 66 and I won't be retiring for at least 5 more years. (Health.permitting)

If insurance wasn't so expensive, I would be able to put 15K$ a year into savings. Since Obamacare is close to crash, who cares about savings if you will only be saving to pay for medical? Maybe we should move to Mexico and see if Mexico and the Mexican people will give us food stamps and full medical coverage?!?!? If they give us all them benefits, we can then protest and burn the Mexican flag, show them how we appreciate their hospitality.

I'm on disability by the time I pay my bills which I'm close to being debt free. Praise God! But I do have to pay for medication. Medicaid or Medicare doesn't cover I'm not complaining I'm very grateful. But I try to put 20 dollars in my saving monthly and I have 15 dollars pocket money in case I need any daily products like shampoo and so on. Once I get debate free I'll put a lot more in savings for my funeral I don't have Life Insurance.

My Boise Firefighter husband just stopped working a 2nd full time job in LA, Calif, every month, to take a promotion to be a Captain, but the hrs don't allow him time to work the other job, so we are suffering pretty badly! We live pay check to pay check and have to choose which bill is paid (robbing Peter to pay Paul ????)
Hopeful that it gets better.....he's worked 80+ hours most of our 34 yr marriage, while raising 3 beautiful daughters....trying to slow down, but we'll probably never be able to save

My vote is not a yes or no answer. We are at the point in life where we are retired and living off of Social Security but that is supplemented by our retirement savings accounts. My husband periodically does consulting so that brings in extra money that goes into savings for unexpected expenses (tires for the vehicles, furnace or a/c repairs, etc.). We are very fortunate.

Have only been able to save since shortly after Trump took over. Too busy trying to get by until then.

I voted we save a little. We are on Social Security, but we are OK. We have four children who will work, but constantly need help.
