She might have the beginning of dementia or even Lyme's Disease just like catherine Chancellor did and was treated just in the nick of time. However, Graham is make full use of it and maybe exacerbating the symptoms with meds that might be innocuous with a younger person but, more potent with a frail elderly. One. Way or another, he's banking on that malaise to ultimately control her and prevent her from "misusing his inheritance".
