GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY.
My wife and I have shopped at Southland for the last time.
Cinemas? Forget it.
Took Grandson to the movies and had lunch then slugged en extra $10 for parking.
When all the shops have gone broke don't start complaining.
Chadstone here we come

First of all they charge even on weekends when people don’t use the train to park in shopping centers and that is another excuse to pocket money retailers are struggling as it is to survive now with this parking fees theywill struggle even more so the end result will be that more shops will close and the food courts will be empty and than I want to see what will they gain from it ? Just remember we don’ Get pay rises to be able to afford all these fees and if we unite we can beat this greed you all have

Is the rumour true, that employees at the Apple Store and Southland Staff are exempt from parking fees?
If so, what about all the other employees? I can accept shoppers paying, if over 3 hours, but workers? It doesn't make sense.

A total disgrace. What happens to the kids parents drop off for the movies or for work? It means the kids are unsafe and in danger. Westfield you should be very ashamed of yourselves for being so greedy. I feel sorry for the staff and the retailers. They are going to lose so much because Westfield wants to be more greedy and fill their already fat deep pockets. Westfield I would hold you personally responsible by putting our young kids in danger and I really hope this will be on your mind and you won't be able to sleep at nights. There's no way I'm going to go to any Westfield centres ever again. Totally disgusted, disappointed in this. Greedy guts.......

why should staff have to pay to work at Southland? they should be given an exemption pas/sticker. there is no way someone working there should have to do this

Staff have been told it will cost them $5 a day that's a $1000 a year cut in your pay. As for shoppers people will be limiting thier shopping time which will not be good for traders. What will happen at Xmas people shop for far longer than three hours. In addition if you see a movie and have a meal forget about doing any shopping as well. I agree with no letting people park at the shopping centre and then catch the train when it's not a public car park but why use it as an excuse to slug the rest of us.

Why make it pay parking? Stupid! There's low income staff who park there. Are Westfield that stuffed in the head?!? No consideration at all!

I felt sorry for the staff, then thought why don't they take advantage of the train ? But soon remembered that the other stations that they might travel from don't have sufficient parking for normal commuters anyway, so would not accommodate the extra patronage.
I am not sure who exactly wanted a station at Southland to begin with, but believe the whole public transport system to be over full capacity already, and think that adding any extra stations without boosting car parking at all stations is pointless. And don't forget, this station is tax payer funded.
It just seems like a loose loose situation, with train travel slowing to allow for the extra stop, discontent for shoppers and staff alike, and no real gain in turnover for Southland.
A total waste of time and money.

The issue is not so much those visiting Southland to shop but the impact this will have on the 1000s of staff. And if you start later than 8.30am - forget a discounted $5 parking fee!
