If Morgan was hit by shrapnel, wouldn't it still have been in his body when he was found? It's more likely to be Nickolas since he's a a clinic that has ties to Valentin. I think his fists clenched at the mention of Port Charles because Valentin cut off all ties he could have with Spenser. His original plan was probably to obtain a new identity & send for Spenser. He would never abandon him.
