On your next motel stay, if you would like to increase your chances of sleeping on a blood, faeces, semen etc contaminated mattress, then vote YES to encourage homosexual wedding nights & Honeymoons
Portable blacklight (UV light) can only detect some of these bodily fluid contaminants.

All press is good. In this case, Cory BarnardI just fuelled the discussion and people voted with their wallets ????????????. We should be thanking Cory BarnardI for the FANTASTIC outcome! Lots of little girls to be educated with all this money.
    Excellent effort, Craigburn pupils????????????????

This poll is a perfect example of the pitfalls of this public survey.
    36 % Totally Inappropriate
Despite all the evidence this was a baseless attack on a group of kids supporting a good cause. 36% made up their minds before hearing the evidence. Leaving an issue up to the opinions of the unaffected is just ludicrous.

  • Parent of a Son at Craigburn Primary - 7 years ago

As a parent of a son at Craigburn Primary School I would like to set the record straight.
    1. It is a student led fundraiser ( the kids came up with the idea after doung a research project about education in other countries and finding that girls are less likely to be educated in certain countries and as a result coming across the do it in a dress charity).
    2. The girls and boys can CHOOSE to wear a dress, or casual clothes, or school uniform (and was always the case).
    3. This is not about the marriage equality debate nor safe schools debate and was only ever about a fundraiser for the chosen charity (which the kids do every term).
    4. Only a certain politician chose to make it a political discussion to help their cause.
    5. Our school community would never put our kids in a situation they did not feel comfortable with.
    6. If my son chooses to wear a dress on the day it is up to him (and only him). There is no presure from the school, the charity, the community or us.
    7. Unless you know the full story (ie part of the school community) don't pass judgement unless you know all the facts.
    8. The only thing the kids care about is raising money for the charity, everything else adult spin!

Have people noticed that DO IT IN A DRESS is the actual name of the charity the fundraising was for? That's right, the charity's name is Do it in a Dress. So that's the name and theme of the casual day. If you go to the charity's website you'll see pics of laughing men in dresses doing various things. Sadly, this charity has found itself in the middle of the SSM battle, but that doesn't mean they stand for one side or the other. They're really just trying to raise money for girls to go to high school. I hope the kids at Craigburn are pleased with their fundraiser and don't take any of the carry-on about their little casual day seriously.

Angela i haven't seen the NO side abuse anyone but have certainly seen the YES side physically and verbally abuse.
Even the gays that are against this are abused and called homophobics. Not sure how that is scratching my head or is that FUN or just having a laugh?

  • Brad Heard - 7 years ago

Did anyone else have a giggle at Captain Cori of the glum glum no fun police, pictured at home in front of a painting of Dame Edna ? Someone better tell him that is a bloke in a frock :D

  • Greg K - 7 years ago

Harmless fun like this has been around for 100 years, sure we have more gay people now but possibly as a percentage of the population it may be about the same.
Great fund raiser and idea and school should be praised for helping the unfortunate.
Unlike Cory Bernardi who hopefully will be out of a job at next election for deception over the people who voted for him as a Liberal member and he jumped as soon as he got in.
Stick you head in the sand somewhere else - I ONCE thought you had potential but you only care about is yourself.
I remember going to a "normal" party with all the kids from 2 of our very high profile schools about 45 years ago and during the night all the girls used their make-up to pretty up the boys and a couple of them had spare cloths which got swapped. I'm still in touch with many of those people and NONE are waving the rainbow flag but they are not narrow minded also !!
    WELL DONE CRAIGBURN

A few years ago I think this would have been classed as a fun day, but given the atmosphere of the day, I think it is only enrages more division in the community.....

This is the beginning of the end for this country. Things will only get worse.

  • Angela De Palma - 7 years ago

    PS..
This is a false poll that ANYONE can multiple vote on.

  • Angela De Palma - 7 years ago

READ THE ARTICLE PEOPLE- it was a harmless fundraiser created by the students.
Once again this highlights the ignorant people commenting without all the facts. Misinformation once again.
The only hate I am seeing is from the no camp.
You don't get to be upset, downtrodden, abused. You are the abuser. You are the bullies. You are the haters. Let the children play.
    Yes to EQUALITY.

I think all you out there just need to look at the safe school adds where the boys are wearing dresses and tell me that that too looks like having a little fun. It may have been a fund raiser but understand what it really looks like and appreciate the concerns what tomorrow will look like. Research people please just research and if you haven't realised there is no clarity in what tomorrow will have install for anyone so I just can't say yes to something that is not clear for the future of tomorrow especially for what is being asked is already law.. civil marriage and full equality. But when it comes to the inoccent minds they have to be left alone me myself can't hand them over as well. Because it seems thats the only thing we haven't given them and they are thriving for that too.

Football clubs have blokes and Sheila's nights, where the partners wear football uniforms and the guys wear dresses. What's the difference? It's all a bit of fun

I am concerned about the teachers motives & reasoning behind encouraging boys to dress as girls. ????

  • Disgusted - 7 years ago

As educators, you should be ashamed of yourselves. By encouraging boys to act as girls, you are paving the way for child groomers & paedophiles. Shame !

  • paul sinclair - 7 years ago

I must be hallucinating. The photo of Cory and his wife has a painting of Dame Edna on the wall - a bloke in a dress! Beyond surreal.

  • avon_7 - 7 years ago

Sure boys dressing up in dresses for a day, why not i'ts only a bit of fun....
This is just sick perversion. If it keeps going 20 years from now it will be ok for kids to have sex with adults as long as it's ' consenting' This is a slippery slope toward total perversion. Laugh if you like but remember this 20 years from now.

    Get a grip.
Students have "wear it purple" day, 'favorite book' day, "odd socks" day, 'white ribbon' day, 'Anzac Day, Raise money for the homeless, Multi cultural day, Halloween, Medieval day, many fundraising and awareness days to engender empathy and selflessness which are fun and involve learning and costumes. Dressing up is fun and the students own choosing given the parents willingness to participate. Are you going to get cross with boys wearing traditional Greek or Scottish or Indonesian costumes? These things take many months to balance in a schools program and was planned months and months before the stupid marriage plebiscite. Bernardi get a double grip. This negativity and stupid unnecessary fear mongering is what those against the plebiscite were worried about; poisoning a fun fundraising event with stupidity appealing to the lowest common denominator

To me children come first so THEY MUST BE LEFT ALONE. they are NOT toys to be played with. Let them become adults and choose what they want to be. Stop brainwashing the for your individual adult selfishness and desires. I'm sure all of you got to choose without all these lies of promises and hidden agenda the government has installed for Australia. Research has obviously not been done. Once educated thoroughly in what is behind this all let's see what fun is about. We live in a country that everyone is already loved so stop using that word for pity. Equality has already been given to all through law in 2008. Alot more but do your research and leave the children alone.

  • molly moate - 7 years ago

It appears some didn't read the full article. This was a fun raising event for charity (and may well have been organised months ago). If students didn't want to wear a dress they could just wear casuals, there was NO coercion! For goodness sake, who's making the fuss? Seems like a senator with too much time on his hands and a bunch of nay sayers who don't want school children to learn empathy!

  • tony carr - 7 years ago

yes Myto Cents, I agree 100%

  • Myto Cents - 7 years ago

If you want to wear a dress, wear it, but don't go brainwashing children (males) believing it's ok to wear one. At that age, what do they know? Has one thought the consequences that may occur during an event like that? Bullying and harassment? Keep the schools out of this. Who ever thought of that idea has seriously got issues. You should lose your job over it.

  • tony carr - 7 years ago

At any other time this might be harmless fun ,like a jeans and t shirt day or a purple shoes day. But i suspect that gender equality and gay marriage politics may be involved, that's totally inappropriate in a school environment.

  • Steph - 7 years ago

I think people need to get over themselves. WHO CARES IF KIDS WEAR DRESSES for a day!!! it doesn't even matter!!! GOOD ON YOU CRAIGBURN PRIMARY for being different to the rest of population that seems to have an issue with kids doing a dress up day. Its people with these negative comments on this whole saga that make you loose faith in humanity.

  • Adrian Morgan - 7 years ago

The problem with this poll is that there's no option to express emphatic approval. "Harmless fun" sounds like "Meh, it's alright I suppose". But if there's anything wrong with this campaign, it's only that it doesn't go far enough. What Australia really needs is a national cross-dressing day for charity, with marches every year and sponsorship from a major department store. And if such an event would make any Australian uncomfortable, then that, frankly, is all to the good.

  • Brayden - 7 years ago

Yet people blasted the No campaigner for telling lies about children being told "its okay to wear a dress"

Completely inappropriate, not to mention completely disrespectful for the parents beliefs.

  • David Edmunds - 7 years ago

Given the current climate and how heated things are getting with the marriage equality debate, I think it's totally inapropriate.
