Shame to have to compose a law for something that is common sense. But a Government that won't enforce it's owm immigration laws this is a waste of time.

Naional Anthem and National Flag are the Country Symbol that all citizens must respect, people can protest anything by any ways but can not abuse their Country. Looking at stadium, how many people stand and how many people kneel, if you are a minor, just thinking about that.

    So, so sad...

Federico de Jesús, a former deputy director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration — the island’s representation in Washington — told The Hill in an email that Trump’s “focus on the NFL instead of the emergency in Puerto Rico is appalling.” “Puerto Rico is not getting all it needs,” said de Jesús. “Countless seniors and others don’t have their medicine. Most people need generators for power. Hospitals especially. Telecommunications are down and entire towns are incommunicado.” “[Hurricane] Katrina is nothing compared to this,” he added. “Rather than worrying about football players protesting the national anthem, the president needs to focus on ensuring maximum federal resources are being used to assist American citizens in Puerto Rico who are reeling from Maria,” Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-N.Y.) told The Hill. “Times of crisis demand effective leadership and I can only hope the president lives up to that responsibility.” Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) piled on, decrying Trump’s focus on protesting athletes while “not bother[ing] to lend a minuscule amount of support” for the storm victims.

“The disaster relief funding that Congress has appropriated is not nearly enough to provide relief following the devastation,” he said.

Mr. Dave Heflin. The U.S. Is not a "law" but simply "a guide to be voluntarily followed by
civilians and civilian groups". I would suggest you re-read the code. I have provided a link below. Please pay close attention to page 4 regarding the background, specifically paragraphs 2 and 3. These paragraphs discuss the fact the Flag Code "does not prescribe any penalties for non-compliance" and " no federal agency has the authority to issue “official” rulings legally binding on civilians or civilian groups."

At what point does this stop? The kneeling is not about disrespect to anything, flag or anthem. It is a plea and request for RESPECT. If you are truly a patriot and an American how can you even fathom voting YES for congress mandating actions? Our country was founded on the premise of FREEDOM! The freedom to believe, worship, and live by how we choose, not based on DICTATIONS of government. It is easy to pass JUDGEMENT on others behaviors when you have never been in their situation. As AMERICANS we need to BELIEVE & SUPPORT the lines of the Pledge of Allegiance that states "one nation, UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." We must remember "There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? - Jame 4:12". And lastly, we must endeavor to follow Jesus' second commandment "...Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. - Matthew 22:39 (KJV)". If we follow these things, then there would be no need for any this because there would be equal justice and treatment for all regardless of race, color, background, etc. We would seek first to understand, rather than be understood. We would value unconditional LOVE above everything.

    Congressman Blackburn is correct. U.S.Code > Title 36 > Subtitle I > Part A >Chapter 3 . 301. This is the law. Look it up.

Loyalty to a piece of cloth and song. I've seen that design used for pants, shirts, head scarfs etc.

The loyalty given to this issue frightens me. Place that loyalty on our CREATOR and this issue will be mute. GOD IS LOVE!

Pray for #45, he dodged the military, with an excuse of a hurt heel.. Where was his loyalty?

The 1st Amendment - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I fought for this flag and country when you disrespect it you disrespect me. If ball players are allowed to disrespect me I should be allowed to disrespect them and call them the niggers for which they are

I am a native Mississippian, born and raised there. Left Mississippi in 1967 to seek job opportunity in Flint, Michigan. Found a very good job at General Motors with great pay and benefits. Retired after 39.3 years of service with pension and medical benefits. Before I left Mississippi, the state had laws that prohibited African Americans from drinking from a water fountain labeled, for whites only, hotel signs labeled, for whites only, restaurants signs labeled, for whites only. My parents had to take a literacy test and pay poll taxes in order to vote, white people did not. These were unjust laws on the books in all southern states and a lot of northern states designed to oppress black people and people of color. Dr. Martin L. King Jr. said that an unjust law is no law at all. A law to make people stand for the playing of the national anthem is a unjust law. I have the constitutional rights to choose or not to choose to stand. There was a time when African Americans could not serve in the military to defend this country and the flag. Marsha Blackburn miss the whole point of kneeling instead of standing during the playing of the national anthem. Police brutality and judicial injustice against African Americans and people of color is what this peaceful protest is about. I love America, it is my birth place and home. I respect the flag, but the flag and the national anthem are not more important than the people.

Do we live in Nazi Germany?! Are we supposed to start Saluting the flag too? What's next, forced prayer? Are ducking stupid are these people? They are such hypocrites! All they want to pretend that they are just Super Patriots and as a result they are better than everyone else. Well I don't think it's written in the constitution that you have to love your country, should love your country, or HOW to love your country.

We are a free society, not a totalitarian regime, yet! congress or the president cannot dictate patriotism or respect for the flag or the country. that's what Russia and North Korea. Trump has a strong authoritarian bent and we are in serious danger of sliding into dictatorship if we don't resist this Hitler wannabe. patriotism that's forced is not patriotism, it's tyranny! respecting the flag and the anthem means respecting the freedom they stand for!

I bet most of yall dont even know the Flag code. If you have any article of clothing with the flag then your violating the flag code and disrespecting it. Google is a powerful tool, use it. Ignorance runs rampant these days.

If the NFL players wasn't in America they wouldn't be making millions of dollars playing sports. No matter what your political beliefs are respect the flag and the men and women in uniform that defends it. I'm done with the NFL and all the players that want to disrespect our flag and national anthem. Send the Titians packing they are a discrace to Tennessee.

Trump and Congress have bigger fish to fry.

There shouldn't have to be a resolution telling Americans how to behave during the anthem. As Americans, we should already know how to behave. If you don't understand what the proper behavior is, those are the ones that need to go.

All of you people voting yes be sure to vote yes when the government want to tell you how many kids to have. Or tell youl how much money you're allowed to have. Or where you can or can't live. Or what book you're allowed to read. Who in their right mind would vote to give up the few rights as free citizens that we have. Smh

If anyone is interested, in honor of the police-hating Titans and Amy Adams, my Titans jerseys are somewhere in the Bordeaux dump.

Screw the Titans and the NFL. Never setting foot in that stadium again.
