Daily Poll: Do you agree with B.C.'s new rule prohibiting ferry passengers to stay in their cars on the lower deck?

This poll is a little upsetting, I don't disagree with the rule because I like to nap, but I've chosen to stay in my vehicle with pets to decrease their anxiety while traveling

Having a handicap requiring walker or wheelchair requires the ability to open car doors wide and to travel between cars. Space is rarely provided and ferries tend to crowd the cars on with little concern about space needed for handicap. Having the option to stay in your car is the only way we can travel on crowded ferries.

They will need to provide a far more efficient and workable solution for passengers who are handicapped, then. At the moment, someone has to be formally designated handicapped (with sign to hang in window) before getting parked close to an elevator -- and even then, the placement of the vehicle and elevator may prevent the person from even getting out of the car, never mind to the elevator. To be fair, they do try to accommodate the needs of the handicapped, but there has been at least one occasion where we were locked in our vehicle with a handicapped family member because there was no way for her to get out of the vehicle and into her wheelchair to move upstairs.

Also, the requirement for an official handicapped sign does not allow for those with a temporary handicap (such as a broken leg or recent surgery requiring wheelchair use or minimal walking) to park in a location that is workable.

There are also issues (such as mentioned above) with severe allergies -- or even people who suffer severe stress when around others -- or long-distance drivers who are looking forward to a nap en route -- that would make the requirement to move upstairs onerous.

There would need to be a plan in place to accommodate such needs/concerns.

Whoever signed off on these new ferries should give their head a shake. My wife and I have had major surgery this year AND CAN NOT MANAGE THE STAIRS .Also the rediculas coffin the lower deck becomes when the floor is lowered is the stuff of nightmares. To add more misery the elevator is broken 40% of the time.Given our condition you would think we would be allowed on the upper deck but that is not allowed. And if we ever got stranded on the passenger deck I would like to see your crew carry my 300 ,Lb body down the stairs.

    So,
In protest, don't even bother going back to your car until well after the top deck vehicles have left.
(Hey, you're just following their rules, right?)
After several 4 hour delays per day, they might change their minds?

I am anaphalactic to scented products. Meaning I'm allergic to perfumes and other scents. I stay in my car on the ferry when I am driving as I need to keep away from all the death traps on board. I am under the influence of drugs when taking my meds so am unable to drive. So it looks like the ferries are losing out o my business due to this.

We can't stay in our cars, but we are supposed to leave our pets in the cars? That is ridiculous. BC Ferries does not allow us to take our family members (pets) upstairs, but now they will not let us stay with them. Horrible!

I don't like it but it is safer. I have been on the ferry when there was a fire.

Also, I believe the regulation applies only to decks that are enclosed. Decks with open sides are not regulated.

If we have to go upstairs, hopefully there will be sufficient comfortable seating. Sitting on the floor doesn't work for everyone.

It's not a BC Ferries rule, it's Transport Canada's rule. We are just fortunate it's taken Ferries so long to conform

I have an issue with BC Ferries implementing the regulations, without first upgrading the on-board pet facilities.
