Should insurance companies be able to refuse a policy or charge a higher premium to homeowners with certain dog breeds?

I have owned 2 dobermans, 2 rottweilers, a german shepherd from 1974 on and currently own another rottweiler. All have been great. Most cases its not the dog its the stupidity of the owner that causes the problems. Allowing insurance companies to charge more without cause and/or at least meeting the dog is discriminating. I have seen bad in all breeds but most have to do with the owners that are not responsible and dumb and shouldn't own any breed of dog..

Yes. Just because your pit bull is good doesn't mean all are. They only charge more because according to their numbers, pit bulls cause more insurance claims.

Maybe offer a course or something for the owner to take because if properly trained all those breeds can be safe. Those dogs breeds weren't running wild they were bred by humans to be the way they are.

If you want the dog you pay for it. No reason why the cost should be spread out to others.

For example...a pitbull. Just because you hear their "bad," doesnt mean they are. It should go for all breeds that it depends on the owners for how the dogs act. A family member has a pitbull and she is the calmest, friendliest dog you would ever meet.
