Should the tram turn right on North Tce?

I was very concerned when I read the article in The Advertiser yesterday about the tram not turning right into North Terrace and that people would be expected to disembark and transfer to another tram.

Adelaide has many fine leaders and bright minds and I would encourage those who have made this decision to change this decision while there is time. There is enough rivalry between the states as it is and we do not want to give them a way of point scoring when it is not necessary.

It's time for Adelaide and South Australia to shine once again and not experience the ridicule that was common about the track down south.

We do not want to make that mistake again.

Imagine someone coming from a country overseas and being told what they have to do in order to complete their trip. I would be embarrassed to give them these instructions.

There is also a time concern. If passengers have a place to be at a certain time, they do not want to have to factor extra time commuting into their trip when it could easily be solved by changing this decision now.

What about the electric trams in Bordeaux which run without any overhead wires. Why was that not considered here.

This is as bad a not keeping the Port Augusta powerhouse open for $1. This mob are digging a hole so big it will swallow this government, the tram extension and a great heap of tax payers money. And Mr Shorten reckons they are doing a great job. I wonder what planet he has been living on.

No right turn into North Terrace is as silly as the one way/reversable Southern Expressway and Labor derided that

Given it can turn left now, it should be possible to also turn right and while you're at it, how about straight on too for the Oval?

Short-sighted decisions cause endless problems later on.....

Next, a line from Victoria Square to the airport via Donald Bradman Drive? Backwater city with backwater mentality. LOOK TO THE FUTURE AND PLAN AHEAD

Another example of wasting money on advertising how good a job there doing, and not having any money left to provide a right turn.!!!!

It's a no brainer. If it could be done back in 1908 what possible reason could there be for not doing it now.
I thought the Government wanted to restrict car travel in the City. If it holds up road traffic on King William Street so what? Perhaps instead of spending taxpayer money on junkets to see the the Grand Final the money wasted by our Premier could have been better spent to see how Melbourne copes with cars and trams at busy intersections (and they have plenty of them)

Silly and short sighted. Given it can turn left now, seems to me it should be possible to also turn right. Essentially want to save a trivial amount of money to not install a switch. Much more sensible than extending the track 100 metres to festival theatre...there has to be some sort of switch already planned to allow such a difficult alternative to be undertaken (turn left or straight on)...what's the bet that just before the election there is an announcement that it will be extended to Adelaide Oval...

Look they were doing this back in the early 1900's at Nth Terrace/ King William Street intersection so they can do it now!
If it's a problem Jay, get your mate Elon to design it or the thousands of first year engineering students sitting around with their raspberry pi's.
I know it might mean missing out on cutting the ribbon before the election Jay but you must think of the future.
Oh and get Adelaide Council to redesign their stupid traffic light system if its a problem!

How can Jay Weatherill and Stephen Mullighan continue to be so short sighted?

The East End has put up with the moving of the hospital precinct, then the implementation of the long-winded and unnecessary interruption of the O-Bahn tunnel.

Now, the 'no right turn' down North Terrace is just what we need to add further insult to East End stakeholders - business owners, residents and shoppers alike.

When will this silly short-sightedness stop?

Display some intelligence and honour your commitment to the East End and make the tram turn down North Terrace!

Visitors to Adelaide and its attractions including the State Library, SA Museum, Art Gallery, our university precinct, Ayers House, Botanic Gardens and the East End, will, as they did with the one-way Southern Expressway, continue to view our mindless government as the virtual laughing stock of an otherwise vibrant nation.

I don't think this is as big a deal as is being made out. The right hand turn would be used by Trams coming from Glenelg. By the time you get to Rundle Mall, 95% of the Glenelg Tram has emptied and a lot of those that are left get off at the Train Station. And now with the NRAH the demand for commuters wanting to get on from the Glenelg line and then turn left will be even higher. If you make it such that the Glenelg Tram has to service both West and East Terrace then you cut in half the quantity of services turning left at North Terrace. OR double the amount of trams running on the Glenelg line which seems unnecessary.
If the network continues to extend down all the terraces then I can see more point in there being a line that goes East --> West.
Yes, OK be nice to have the option but I think the East End traders are making way more of this than is really there when you stop and think about it rationally.

Turn left to turn right? Madness. Do it properly, do it once.
