Should doctors be able to prescribe life ending medication to terminally ill patients who request it?

You people need to mind your own fucking business.

    The question is deceptive.

When drugs are given specifically to cause death, they are not medications, they are poisons.

If the question were properly phrased "Should doctors be able to prescribe poison to depressed patients with advanced illnesses who request it?" very few people would support it.

Once again, if something is difficult we must get rid of it. A baby, a sick person, an old person. What starts as a law for extreme situations (rape or incest) becomes birth control. What starts as a law to help those suffering extreme pain becomes the way people are expected to leave this world so as to not be a burden. All life has value and a reason for being. We have already shown with our abortion laws how we as a society do not value viable and valuable life, a euthanasia law will end up the same way. Watch the movie “The Giver” and get a glimpse of where our society is headed...

So we would be able to put to sleep anyone who becomes too inconvenient to take care of like one of our pets? Suffering, sacrifice and love, make us human.

No one can judge another sister or brother until you've walked a day in their life.
I pray that I will be able to help others by the suffering sent to me at the end of my life.

I'm strongly against this, but not for religious reasons. I believe that the government shouldn't be involved in the business of ending lives, and for persons with disabilities, the issue becomes complex. The process of 'assisted suicide' has many possible loopholes that could end the lives of persons with disabilities against their will.

Life is a gift from GOD. Taking a life is murder.

All life is sacred! Believe it or not!
How long will it be to get to "Soylent Green" where the government decides YOUR life is of
NO VALUE and YOU are TERMINATED! In "Soylent Green", people were used for food.
Doctors should return to their Hippocratic Oath od DO NO HARM!

Ending one’s life is completely against God’s will. He gives life, and only He can take it away. Any physician who prescribes life ending drugs is committing murder.

Yes you may like the concept of assisted suicide/euthanasia but the administration of the non-transparent laws in OR, WA, CA & CO brightly provide immunity for predators (corporations, strangers, caregivers, heirs, guardians...) to complete the killing all before the family knows. A simple reading of the laws confirms this to be true. I am not for that. Are you??

We're looking at a mandatory cut to Medicare in the tax bill, and likely threats to healthcare more broadly. Do we really want to lay down and die so the 1% can have a tax break? Assisted suicide is not about your private suicide, it's about public policy and our healthcare system in an aging society. Oppose assisted suicide bills as bad medicine.

Deliberately ending (killing) a human life, whether in the womb or outside the womb, is not God's Will, nor should it be ours. We must, with deep compassion, suffer with those who are dying, accompanying them and help them to die well.
