A colossal disaster from top to bottom. What has happened? The wrong people are running the team, from Mr. Molson,Bergevin, and Julien. A complete shake-up is needed; if not,the utter embarrassment will continue and necessary solutions will never be found- the most storied franchise in NHL history will forever be buried in its ashes. The previous, successful Canadiens' teams were built on speed, passing and unified team play-a spectacle to behold, admire and enjoy,That spectacular culture will only return by putting the right people in place-management,coaches and players. The fans do not need to witness the incompetence on display any longer.Action is needed; the procrastination has lasted too long. Why not hire Vincent Damphousse as director of hockey operations and Pierre McGuire as general manager-two very competent, knowledgeable hockey men who are familiar with most phases of the game.Never again do you hire a re-threaded coach.Find one who is both creative and innovative-the era of unstructered and boring hockey has to end.Fans deserve more.Hopeful congratulations to the new management team.Find the right hockey people and get the job done.Bonne chance et souhaitons le mieux.GLP

Firing just the GM will not help. It starts from the top. Geoff Molson needs to step down and hire a proper team president. This way Mr. Molson can focus on his other billion dollar interests like making sure his beer glasses hold together while someone else can fully immerse themselves into the Team President position to live and breathe nothing but Montreal Canadiens NHL hockey (Bobby Smith?).

Heck, maybe even one that doesn't set the law or "culture" of ONLY Francophone GMs or coaches or players or a president that doesn't encourage his GM to keep $8M of salary cap in his pocket as a rainy day fund for whole year while the team trudges through the slop down in the basement wasting another year of prime development time for the young kids. In the meantime, it is in hopes to land a guy next summer that has no reason or incentive to come to Montreal considering the other options out there for a top centre/franchise player/hall of fame shoe-in when he retires.

I like Claude Julien very much. He is doing what he can with what he has. I guarantee there are non-Francophone GMs out there that are the better option than the 3-5 Francophone GMs that will be interviewed for the job next (Dean Lombardi perhaps?).

The Canadiens ARE a Francophone team and they are Francophone PRIDE. The Canadiens CULTURE is not supposed to be Francophone, it is supposed to be winning! The Franco-culture is portrayed by the organization and absorbed by the players regardless of where they came from to come to hockey's Mecca.
