Calgary needs lessons from Montreal about what snow clearing actually is. The graders need to be followed by snow blowers, and dump trucks to haul away the snow. It’s disgraceful that sidewalks are rendered impassable and intersections obstructed by the snow left behind. 16 Ave NW by North Hill Centre, the plowed snow is three feet out from the curb!

What snow clearing or plowing?? Never done even when ruts are 2 feet deep. But the bike paths to Nose Hill seem to be priority 1+ as they are always done even before priority 1 roads are. It's mindblowing! Calgary should not just plow but haul the snow away. ie. to the old gravel pit on Nose Hill.

On top of the road issues... when snow like this hits, I am thankful I am not in a wheelchair or using a walker... sure sidewalks are more or less cleared, but most of the ramps on and off sidewalks at intersections or crosswalks are piled high making it hard for regular pedestrians let alone someone with mobility challenges.

The city is doing a great job for the most part when it comes to cleaning the roads, but what about the people who have to use the side walks and cross the streets at the pedestrian lights.
At least clean an opening on each side of the cross walk for the pedestrian to cross the street safely, especially for the senior's who are walking and taking the buses.

I take my hat off to the city road crews. I think they do a great job. However I always wonder where all the trucks and plows the city claim to have out on the roads are. It is very hard to see or hear one most of the time, either during the snow fall or afterwards! I am always pleased to see some sand/gravel on the road, especially at the intersections, but that is always hard to find too. I think better planning for the snow fall would be better for everyone.

The City of Calgary needs to remove all of the snow from priority 1 roads. With our weather changing constantly, the snow which is piled up on the side of the road melts onto the road and then freezes. This happens over and over reeking havoc with numerous accidents. We could learn so much about snow removal from eastern Canada.

I LIVE IN A SENIOR'S RESIDENCE ON 19th ST. SE. ( a snow ban route ) CREWS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PROPERLEY CLEAR OUR STREET BECAUSE OF A JEEP PARKED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BLOCK. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT MOVED IN OVER TWO MONTHS, INCLUDING TWO SNOW ROUTE PARKIG BANS. WHY HASN'T THIS CAR BEEN TOWED TO ACCOMODATE SNOW REMOVAL EFFORTS? I CALLED 311 TO REPORT THIS BUT JUST FROM THE TONE OF THE 311 RESPONDANT I KNEW IT WAS AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY.

The city is doing more than enough. My tax dollars shouldn't be going towards plowing the streets so people that shouldn't be on the roads can drive. Citizens of Calgary scared of the snowy conditions should put their own money into a driving course or stay off the road.

THE CITY SHOULD PRACTISE WHAT THEY PREACH ALL THEY DO IS PILE SNOW BANKS IN FRONT OF HANDICAP POST AND ELIMINATE THEM FROM GETTING OUT . I AM SO DISCUSSED IN THEIR PREFORMANCE BUT WHEN IT COMES TO OWNERS HAVING TO PAY THEIR PROPERTY TAX ALL HANDS ARE OUT TO GRAB. SENIORS AND HANDICAPS GET TREATED LIKE SHIT FROM THE CITY START SHOWING SOME RESPECT FOR US WE (SENIORS) ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE PUT IN OUR TIME. THERE IS NO WORD TO DISCRIBE HOW DISCUSSED I AM IN OUR MAYORS PREFORMANCE

I think more should be done because it becomes a safety issue. I was out walking my dog 2 weeks i n Applewood when I was going to cross the street, the last thing I remember, when I wiped out and smashed the back of my head on the ice. I ended up with a concussion as well as contusions! It would of not happened if streets were plowed properly!

The city is doing a good job on the priority 1 and priority 2 roads. If people would buy proper tires the residential roads are not a problem. People can slow down when meeting cars on residential roads that are not bare.

What the city is doing is fine for a normal snowfall year but this is not a normal snowfall scenario. Some residential Priority 2 streets have become unsafe as 2 way streets are no longer wide enough to allow traffic to pass safely, especially when one of the vehicles is a bus. Snow should be removed on a as needed basis and side streets should also be cleared on an as needed basis. If we have money for bike lanes and rainbow crosswalks we should have money for this. Just take it out of the $52 million they confiscated from tax payers.

The city is doing everything they possibly can. People complain about how bad the city is doing but seem to forget that it all costs money. Meaning higher taxes!! So people need to pick one or the other - either complain about the roads or complain about higher taxes - you can’t have both.

We get tickets for parking on our street but it has not been plowed either of the parking bans.
