By funding every child's daycare, regardless of their parents income, and reducing subsidy for those in need??? I don't think so.

As a daycare owner we would love to see then lower fees for parents. Sadly there is a bigger crisis at hand. This industry has a severe shortage of qualified workers. We need to address that first and for most. You can open up more spaces but there will once again be no one to work in them or other programs will continue to close due to not enough qualified Early Childhood Educators in this field.

Who cares about the cost, we need spaces to put the kids where they can be safe. $50 per day is fine, but there's no space. Little kids are vulnerable from the ages of 1-5. They stay home for a year, then they get into govt funded schools. Why are they outside the system from 1-5 when they can't defend themselves or tell us what's going on with abuse and neglect from fly by night daycares? I don't think anyone really needs $10 a day, but these little ones need us to create safe spaces for them IMO. There are bad people running daycares in Vancouver, taking advantage of our shitty system...

If the foreigners are buying too many homes then isn't that where the babies are coming from? The local media has fallen down on this one and their American bosses will be very upset. Quick like a bunny... Let's call it the foreign babies daycare tax at 15.... hell make it 20%.

Once again , this government completely misses the mark . As a parent of high school aged kids I no longer need daycare for my kids. However , when they were younger , cost wasn’t the main problem , finding a daycare that didn’t scare the you know what outta me was. My wife and I made a choice . I stayed home with the kids and she continued her career. Is the government going to give $1250 a month to people who stay home with their kids ?
