Poll: Should Arizona's minimum wage be capped at $10.50/hour?

It should be capped because as minimum wage goes up so do the prices. The people who make a decent salary right now will loose money because they don’t get a raise when the minimum wage is increased. As a result they have to spend more money to purchase goods and still make the same amount. There will never be a minimum wage where everyone is happy. Minimum wage jobs are for people who are just entering the job market who don’t have a skill set yet and not for someone to do as a career.

$10.50 isn't enough to get people off welfare but yet they want to take that away as well. How exactly are people supposed to live

There are many single parent one income that need to support there families! If they don’t have more income you will pay for there food stamps medical care and other tax payer paid items what’s the difference rather have them feel they can support there kids

The people that voted for this are the uneducated Workforce that doesn't see anything more there for their future then flipping burgers. Only the uneducated would not understand that yes your minimum wage went up but so did your gallon of milk your loaf of bread and your eggs because that's how they now cover your minimum wage increase. So you're still no further ahead than you were before. Come on people educate yourself about things before you vote for them and you end up hurting yourself.

If companies would invest more in their employee's, maybe there would be no minimum wage. What am I talking about, well, thanks to the political environment we currently have, they were given a massive tax break. And instead of taking their BILLIONS and giving folks a 'proper' raise, their just looking to make more money off of money they already have ( by doing stock buy backs). That does not benefit in anyway the 'little guy' like you and me. Remember, this is stock piled money, in other words, money they don't even need to run their companies day to day operations. This is simply greed at it's best. So, what does the little guy have to do, find ways to stay afloat, and one of those ways is raising the minimum wage. You cannot tell me that their is no money, as I just stated, not while companies have large sums of money stashed away.

You think it’s expensive know... wait to minimum wages goes up it going to get a whole lot more expensive. Business owners are not going to absorb those additional costs they are just going to pass it along to all of us. There goes the 99 cent menu At McDonalds. Wake up people... minimum wages equals minimum skills. There is nothing wrong to have someone work for it !

Minimum Wage jobs should NOT be anyone’s career aspiration. They are jobs for high schoolers and college students. The unintended consequence is that raising the minimum wage increases ALL prices. It’s been studied in other cities and the results show that when minimum wage goes up people end up with less $$ in their pocket. Look it up. I believe the study was done in Seattle. You are naive if you think only your income will change

No one can survive on $10.50/hr! It's either wages or public assistance and people work hard enough and are entitled to a better wage! The rich got a tax cut. Workers need to fair wage!

The voters spoke at the polls. I'm incensed that the legislature is ignoring the vote of the people and wants to reverse our wishes. Could they live on $10.50 an hour on 2018? I don't think so. Parents cannot take care of a family on $10.50 an hour. Shame on the Arizona legislators.

  • Douglas Sheeler - 6 years ago

    It should go to 12/hr

No i don’t think the minimum wage should be capped at (10.50) an hour because everything is so darned expensive these days, everything has gone up, it’s very hard and difficult to just make ends meat, rent electric gas food, nothing is cheap anymore, but yet they want to cap minimum wage, even though voters voted for the wage increase and now the law makers want to put a cap on minimum wage, i don’t think it’s fair.!

I believe it should be accorded with what it really cost! Living below poverty in any state is awful! I believe rents should be regulated according to wages! It’s no surprise how many homeless we have! It should be 20 an hour for us to provide for our families. Many of us are raising our grandchildren. It’s not easy on SS/SSI/SSD. We have to supplement our income. Yes raise it!

We already voted on this. Follow the will of the people as reflected in the passage of the Proposition. Is this a democracy or not?

Respect People’s Vote. Why do we Vote if it’s taken away. Other States wages are higher and they kept their wages. Employers always have a problem. People have support their Families Stop this let them keep their Wage that People Voted for

I'm 74 and have been hearing this same old tune for as long as I can remember. It has never hurt any business big or small. In fact it helps the job market.

I work for minimum wage right now and between rent, car payments and putting food on the table it just doesn't cut it the wages need to be increased

  • Rick Owens - 6 years ago

It should be capped... so what happens when a new employee comes in and is making the same as seasoned employee who has been there for a few years??? Bump up seniority employees then pay the “new” minimum wage....just saying

Keeping the working class poor enables business owners to increase their profits.

Minimum wage will cripple small business, if the MW keeps increasing for basic uneducated talent.

  • Trudie Cooke - 6 years ago

Minimum wages should stay current with economy. It should go up and down. No cap necessary.

  • SL - 6 years ago

It’s hard enough for people to survive with just one spouse working. Keeping minimum wage at that only hurts our economy and people. People want to work and make a living. Keeping it so low just is pushing more to need assistance.

  • Wendy - 6 years ago

The cost of living rises therefore the minimum wage needs to reflect this.

  • Allen - 6 years ago

For a decent wage to live on it needs to be at least $15.00 anhour

  • LAG - 6 years ago

Pay needs to catch up & keep pace with cost of living.

  • Patsy Castor - 6 years ago

If you don’t put a cap on it you are going to hurt the lower unskilled labor and small business.

  • Norma J Wright - 6 years ago

  • David Maltais - 6 years ago

I think you should do what the people want and voted for!!!!

  • Jerry raben - 6 years ago

It should be at least $15 an hour. No body can live on 10.50 or 12

  • Jona Henry - 6 years ago

We already voted on this and gradual increase to $12. Economy has improved and more people hired since it began. Do NOT think of trying to take our vote away!!!

  • Nicholas Taylor - 6 years ago
