Listening Script: Marqueting Techniques. David: Hi, listeners. Companies who want to sell things have a huge problem these days – advertising just doesn't work the way it used to. We're bombarded by it, so we just turn off when we see it. So, some companies are using a new approach to marketing called tryvertising. The idea is to let you try the product in the hope that you'll want to buy it. We've sent some correspondents to find out more. Let's start with Jean Phillips. Jean? Jean: Hi, David, I'm in Vancouver, Canada, and I'm standing outside the Nike Running Lounge. Here's somebody coming out right now... Hi there! I'm Jean Phillips from Radio 88. And you're... Kyle: Kyle, Kyle Hanes. Jean: Nice to meet you. I see you're all ready for a good run. Are you trying out some Nike trainers? Kyle: Yeah, aren't these great? They must be the fourth or fifth pair I've tried. I can try out the whole collection if I want! It's so much better than trying them on in a store. This way, I can tell whether the trainers feel comfortable after a ten-mile run. Jean: What else can you do at the Running Lounge? Kyle: Well, I've met other runners and got great trips and advice of training. They also help you plan your routes and give you maps. And the best thing is, when I come back, I'm going in for a massage and some breakfast. Jean: Fantastic! And it's all free, isn't it? Kyle: Absolutely!
