My largest key is pinched between my fingers so that I can jam it into the throat or eyeball of anyone who tries to harm me. It sounds harsh, but it's good self-defense.

You’ve just parked at the mall and are on your way inside. A man (or woman) tries to approach you. What should you do?

Stop and ask what I can do help them.
Stop and flip him/her off.
Keep walking and get inside the mall. There’s no good reason for a stranger to approach me in a parking lot.

There’s a great parking spot located between two large vans. Should you park there?

Yes. Why not?
No, my parents love me. Someone in that van could be looking for a victim to grab.

The side panels to see if anyone scratched the paint while I was gone.
The windshield to remove any flyers folks left.
Beneath the car and in the backseat to see if someone is hiding there. If I see someone, I will keep walking.

You are unlocking the car door when someone comes behind you and tries to push you into the car. What should you do?

Go along peacefully so they don't hurt me.
Throw the keys and run if I can. If I can't do that, I will become dead weight, yell and do whatever I can to keep them from getting me in the car. Yes, I could get hurt if they have a weapon, but my chances of survival are better here. If they get me away from the parking lot, they're likely to do much worse.

What words or phrases should you yell during an emergency?

A loud scream of help, call 911, no, or let go of me. Those screams can get the attention of others who may be nearby.
A string of expletives and threats will scare away predators.
