The privacy of my doctor-patient relationship if all prescriptions, diagnoses and treatments are put into a government database.
The loss of freedom my doctor and I will have if he or she is forced to use a government-mandated treatment rather than what we both believe is best.
The rationing of health care, especially for seniors, that will result from further government regulation of health care through Medicare.
The greater difficulty of getting experimental or alternative treatments if the government will only allow FDA-approved treatments.
The creation of a Federal Health Board to determine what prescriptions, treatments, devices, and therapies are available to all Americans.
I’m not concerned right now at all. I’m in favor of greater efficiency in my health care and I trust the government to basically get it right.

2. Medicare now pays for treatments deemed “safe and effective.” The stimulus bill may change that, and perhaps allow a cost-effectiveness standard to be set by the Federal government. How much does that concern you?

Quite a lot. My doctor and I are the only ones who should determine what treatment I get.
A bit. I understand the need to control the cost of Medicare but I worry about government limiting my choices.
Not at all. It’s the only way that we can keep Medicare financially stable.
