Does it matter if the "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" is ever canonized?

Yes. We have an established process for accepting something as scripture and exceptions shouldn't be made.

Yes. Canonize it and I will have to reckon with it.

Yes. Getting the seal of official canonization will give it an authority that it currently lacks.

Yes. It would be needed for us to be a light unto the world.

No. It is the word of the prophets and apostles. That's all I need to know.

No. Treating it as scripture, while not actually making it scripture, potentially gives the brethren plausible deniability.

It would be refreshing to go through the process of canonization if we're going to treat it that seriously. It would help the church for the brethren to at least frankly discuss scriptural status, whether the proclamation is canonized or not.
