Should the Bears bench Mitch Trubisky?

    Bench Trubisky
1st Brady then Mariota, and don't even think about Jack Rosen! Brady wants to show that he can win a Superbowl without Bellicheck and the Bears loaded on defense and have many weapons on offense that Brady would know how to use them unlike Trubisky. Bears just need to fix the offensive line and get Brady. Defenses would have to RESPECT Brady's passing game, which would help the running game A LOT! Try to get Mariota on a 1 year prove it deal, and if Mariota can't do it this year, then he proved he can't do it and go after Brady! I would want Brady the most, and by far, but I do like the Payton Manning idea, but I think Trubisky is just a bust, and the Bears need to move on before the Superbowl window closes. Brady should want to play for the Bears, because the Bears team would be complete with Brady

Whatever happened to receiver IVES who caught every pass thrown to him during the last preseason game?
What happened to the guy who set receiving records at Stanford, and caught just about every pass during the last preseason game??? Both were catching the ball lights out as if their life depended on it. QB Tyler Bray was putting the dime in the proverbial bucket throughout the game. I was impressed by those 3. OK, I know some will quickly add that it was against 2nd & 3rd stringers, and also preseason. However, what impressed me was the way both receivers found a way to get open frequently like the old Bear WR Brian Bashnagel, or Tommy Waddle did in their playing days. Ditto for #82 Steve Majerum from Stanford, all who caught everything thrown NEAR them. Rarely did they drop any pass thrown their way by Jimmy Mac. It's not always about speed. I prefer sure handedness Vs Speed and no control, if I had to pick one. Many times, our current speedster wideouts have either dropped passes, can't get open, or the QB overthrows them.
Why am I bringing this up? We need players who can seperate cleanly, and allow the QB to put the ball where they can catch it, even if defenders are drapping all over them. Trey Burton has been a disappointment. He was MIA during the Philadelphia playoff game when we needed him mostly. Remember the mystery illness hours before that game???
Still I don't believe that he is 100%. That another reason to consider bringing in IVES, or the other Stanford record holder if either is available. At least they can run great routes and have "sticky" hands. Until we can find accurate home run throwers like Mahomes, we have to be content with the short to intermediate range passes; but they must be consistent as to move down the field consistently , make 1st downs, and score ultimately; which will give our defense enough rest, to defend the run better, and the pass as well.

Defensively, we saw the Saints MOSTLY move the ball with only 2 types of plays without any Pagano adjustment. IT WAS WR THOMAS DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE ZONE DEFENSE, OR THE FLATS NEAR THE SIDELINES, WITH FULLER PLAYING MILES AWAY FROM THE WIDE-OUTS. BRIDGEWATER FOUND HIS FLAT RECEIVERS WHO SIMPLY CAUGHT BALLS FOR 1ST DOWNS NEAR THE SIDELINES AS THE MARCHED DOWN THE FIELD. YOU WOULD THINK THOMAS WOULD BE DOUBLED TEAMED, AND FULLER PLAYING HIS MAN MUCH TIGHTER. THAT ADJUSTMENT RARELY DID OCCUR. OFTEN YOU COULD SEE OUR DEFENSE STILL TALKING AMONG THEMSELVES, UNSURE, AND SETTING UP WHILE TEDDY WAS READY TO SNAP THE BALL.. SOMETIMES THEY LOOKED CONFUSED. THE SECONDARY NEEDS TO BETTER INTEGRATE HA HA CLINTON DIX INTO THEIR SCHEME. HE MISSED A LOT OF PRESEASON PRACTICE DUE TO INJURY.

SPECIAL TEAMS COULD DO MORE TO LIMIT RUN BACKS BY OPPONENTS, AND SCORE ON RETURNS. BILICHICK KNOWS HOW TO USE HIS S.T. TO BEAT HIS OPPONENTS WHEN HIS OFFENSE IS NOT CLICKING.

OVERALL GUYS NEED TO TACKLE WELL FUNDAMENTALLY. NO "PATTY CAKE" TACKLING. WRAP UP THE LOWER LEGS AND ANKLES.

ONCE A TEAM RIPS OFF A BIG PLAY, COACH BILICHICK WALKS OVER TO THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE f--K UP, AND TALKS TO THEM. THAT SH-T NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN IN THE SAME GAME. BUDDY RYAN WAS THAT WAY. HE WILL CURSE YOU OUT, AND CALL YOU NAMES IF YOU F UP IN HIS SCHEME. SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA CALL OUT GUYS. NONE OF THIS PC, OR POLYANA THAT NAGY LIKES. THE RAIDER'S BEAT UP THE BEARS BASED ON BIGGER EMOTION, AND CHIPS ON THEIR SHOULDERS. THEY WERE FIRED UP, PUSHED/SHOVED US AROUND LIKE PUSSIES, PUNCHED US IN THE THROAT WITH JACOBS, AND DEMORALIZED OUR BEARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. IT WAS LIKE WE WERE IN A TRANCE STILL JET LAGGED. SLOW WITHOUT URGENCY, OR EMOTIONS. BOTH SUPERBOWL COACH WINNERS, JON GRUDEN & SEAN PAYTON, EX BEAR QB, AND NATIVE SON, OUT-COACHED, OUT CLASSED, OUT WITTED NAGY.

SO LEAN TOWARDS THE PROVEN WINNING COACH WHEN NAGY FACES THEM; OR GO BY THE OTHER TEAM'S RECORD, OR BY THE BETTER QB. GOING BY THESE CRITERIA, I think THE BEARS WILL PREVAIL VS CHARGERS.

Teams have figured out Nagy's scheme. He was successful his 1st year since there was no tape, and starters didn't play much pre season, so no tapes were out there. Now, there is enough tape to see, especially the Oakland game.
On Defense, Danny Travathan, or Roquan Smith, are either not the answer, or they are not used properly. Coach Pagano is not all that he is panned out to be. He is not quick at making adjustments like Buddy Ryan, or Bilichick.

Matt Nagy will not be the coach after his contract expires if he has loosing seasons till then.

I BLAME THE COACHES FOR WHAT IS GOING ON. FIRE THE OFFENSIVE LINE COACH., AND MAYBE THE DEFENSIVE LINE COACH TOO. BILL BILICHIK OFFENSIVE LINE & DEFENSIVE LINES DO NOT RELY ON STAR PLAYERS NAME. HE PLUGS IN GOOD ATHLETES INTO HIS SCHEME, AND TELLS THEM EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTS FROM THEM. A NO NONSENSE APPROACH. THAT'S WHY HE'S A PERENNIAL WINNER. MR NAGY PLAY YOUR STARTERS NEXT PRESEASON GAMES. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF CONSISTENCY B/W QB, AND RECEIVERS. I LIKE TYLER BRAY. I LOVE HIS FOOT WORK. REMINDS ME OF JOEY MONTANA MY NDU (NOTRE DAME) BUDDY. BRING HIM IN WHEN IT BECOMES APPARENT THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO WIN A GAME. HE'S TALLER THAN TRUBINSKY, AND DANIELS, CAN SEE OVER TALL DEFENDERS, AND SEE THE FIELD BETTER. COACH, GIVE HIM A CHANCE LIKE YOU DID WITH THE KICKERS. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOOSE AT THIS POINT. DO NOT COMPARE THIS SEASON'S 3-3 RECORD WITH LAST YEAR'S. WE NEVER LOST BY MORE THAN 7 POINTS IN ANY GAME LAST YEAR. THIS YEAR WE ARE HAVING OUR ASSES HANDED TO US. DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE SAME TEAM AT ALL.. WE CAN'T BLAME RB JORDAN HOWARD NOW CAN WE??? THE ROOKIE RB HASN'T SHOWN US ANYTHING BUT A FUMBLE IN THE SAINTS GAME. SAME O-LINE FROM LAST YEAR CANT BLOCK, CAN'T MAKE HOLES, CAN'T SEAL THE EDGES, CAN'T PASS PROTECT AS A UNIT, MISSED ASSIGNMENTS, MISCOMMUNICATION, ETC. DITTO FOR THE DEFENSE. OUR SO CALLED STUD LINEBACKERS DISAPPEARED. CAN'T GET OFF BLOCKS. THEY NEED TO WATCH ALL FILM TAPES OF SINGLETARY, OTIS WILSON, ERLACHER, BRIGGS. SINGLETARY USED TO WATCH OPPONENT TAPES TILL 3AM. HIS WIFE WOULD PLEAD WITH HIM TO GET SOME SLEEP. THEY NEED SPEECHES FROM THESE GUYS.

SOMETHING IS MISSING FROM THE SPIRIT OF THIS TEAM, AND IT STARTS FROM THE TEAM LEADER, WHO ALSO IS NOT CALLING INNOVATIVE PLAYS LIKE HE DID LAST YEAR, OR TEAMS HAVE FIGURED THEM OUT.

MILLER, REX GROSSMAN, CUTLER, TRUBINSKY, DANIELS. DO YOU SEE THE COMMON THEME HERE??? I DO NOT WANT TO START AN ETHNIC WAR. Mental basket cases except for Miller. Nevertheless, none did Sh-t.

SO, MR RYAN PACE IF YOU CAN, AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT THE QB POSITION, UNLESS THAT PERSON HAS FULLY PROVEN HIMSELF LIKE MACK. HAVE AN OPEN MIND, TAKE A HARD LOOK AT STAR BLACK QBs in college, or the pros. The bears seem to overlook black QBs for some reason. We did not pursue Dak Prescott when he was available. We let "slash QB/RB"/... black QB from Pittsburgh Steelers go. Vince Evans not supported much by Ditka. The Bears really are not fond of black QBs, I am sorry. Prove me wrong, Kaepanick (sic) is available. Go get him. He was the only QB to beat Green Bay at home in a playoff game with the 49'ers. TEDDY BRIDGEWATER WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT SEASON FOR SURE. WE CAN EVEN TRADE FOR HIM BEFORE THIS SEASON'S TRADE DEADLINE. HOWEVER, WE MUST IMPROVE THE O-LINE IMMEDIATELY. EVEN BRADY WON'T SURVIVE THE WAY THEY ARE BLOCKING AS A GROUP.
Daniels is as worthless as they come. 10+ yrs as a backup, following Nagy around the league like a lap dog. Pleeeeeease!!! He's old let him go. We need a QB who can run, get out of the pocket, throw very accurately, and above all can read defenses. A QB WHO WILL MAKE BLITZING DEFENSES PAY. TRUBINSKY, AND DANIELS CANNOT HANDLE PRESSURE, THE WORD, AND FILMS ARE OUT THERE NOW. EXPECT TO SEE MORE BLITZES FROM DEFENSES FROM NOW ON, AND MORE 3 AND OUTs.

MR PACE FROM NOW ON RECRUIT PLAYERS FROM BIG LEAGUE SCHOOLS LIKE SEC, BIG 10, ETC., OR QBs WHO STARTED AT LEAST 3 OUT OF THEIR 4 YEARS. No more 1 year fla

Mitch has done nothing consistently, he's had flashes, but nothing consistently to make him attractive as a starting quarterback in the trade market. Therefore, he has no real dollar value. I believe he would be a top notch backup, and maybe that will give him the time to improve his football IQ (reading defenses) and passing accuracy. Also, it would get him out of Mahommes and Watson's shadows. As far as my comment yesterday, regarding Kaepernick, his skillset would fit what Nagy is trying to accomplish. Imagine if Nagy was at KC when they went with Mahommes? Nagy couldn't fully implement his gameplan with Smith. Kap can throw it through a wall, runs like an Avatar, and is a constant dual threat. We could get him on a prove-yourself salary and at this point, we have nothing to lose and he has the most upside. Nick Foles? Pleeeeeease. He would get killed behind this line. Go Bears. Sigh.

I agree with Donna. Bring up Tyler Brae. Even though he didn't play the first stringers in preseason, He sure looked good throwing the ball. He hit receivers in tight coverage. Grant you the offensive line sucks, but Trubisky just does not have the instinct.

GIVE TYLER BRAE A CHANCE AND HE MIGHT JUST SURPRISE EVERYONE!!!!!!! The Bears management sucks because they stick with one option like Jay Cutler. They should have got rid of him long before they did.

  • Lee - 5 years ago

the kid has the potential, but he was not ready to be a NFL quarterback. The problem was pace did not sign a veteran Qb Mitch could learn from. At this point this is Cade McNown all over again no one to learn from and confidence goes with each game.

  • Donna L - 5 years ago

It seems Trubisky can’t read the field, seems confused on where he should be on any particular
Play and he is NOT a smart quarterback. Bring up Tyler Brae and let him play and maybe save the year.... Brae has a chance to help the team cause this offensive line has lost confidence in this awful quarterback ... they just don’t seem to give a damn. Whoever scouted and brought in Trubisky should be fired... 13 games in college... YOU MORON

bears are done. get a new quarterback quick

  • Bill Quam - 5 years ago

Trubisky’s confidence & nerve are clearly gone. Who knows, maybe that second shoulder injury in a year’s time went to his head more than we know. It’s telling that Nagy says Mitch is accurate on all his reads and throws in practice (wearing a red jersey), yet cannot bring that poise to a live game. Further proof Trubisky has lost his confidence/nerve. To anyone; name me an NFL QB who lost his confidence & abilities, only to regain them later? Time to cut bait. It only gets worse. SD by ten or more.

    CHAD KELLY time!

  • Kowalski Brian - 5 years ago

Honestly is Trubisky going to beat Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady??? Never... he is back up quality at best. Walk away now...For those of you wondering why the bears cannot run the ball it is because defenses are stacking the box because Trubisky cannot beat them with his arm. Yes the offensive line is not playing well either- but this is the biggest issue. Sad because this team has the talent around Mitch to succeed. Jay Cutler in his prime takes this team to 14 wins and a SB. Jay was always missing major pieces. Mitch cannot claim that......

  • Kai2277 - 5 years ago

Honestly I think MT is the worst starting QB in NFL...Sign Chad Kelly. Yes I know of his past character issues but I also know he was always first person at practice/last one to leave- since he has been with Colts. Huge upside. Great deep ball, great speed......Best QB ESPN sports science score in history. Was beating Bama while MT was a back-up/one year starter at NC. Cheap too.

The Bears office keeps meddling with a proven program. I was hoping that they'd bring last years roster forward and build upon it like the Pats do. But no. I agree with Rick Worth. Why not Kapernick? Bring him in for a year end trial. See if Trubisky and Kapernick can't improve on each other's game. Kapernick has suffered long enough for his freedom of expression. Regardless of the politics, do the right thing.

Chicago Needs to.get some tall redzone TE aleast 6'6 and up and needs to draft quarterback Jalen Hurts .

  • Rick Worth - 5 years ago

Though I don't think it's fair for us to keep comparing Mitch to Mahommes, because sadly there is no comparison, I wish Pace would have. We aren't going to get the number 1 pick, so Tua's out. Personally, although I hate the politics, I wish they would call Kaepernick. He's the best available option.

  • Lesley - 5 years ago

Bench Mitch until he is 100%. Nagy needs to just STOP what he's doing this season and go back to last season's run game. What was wrong with that? Not a thing. Running the ball is what the Bears do! Since Nagy came he's not been making good decisions for our boys. Daniels is not going to do anything different so why not let Bray have a try. It couldn't get any worse.

  • Glenn - 5 years ago

There's absolutely no point benching him. Chase isn't going to win any games by himself, and after 10+ years as a backup we already 100% know he's not good enough to be a starter. May as well see what Mitch can do with another 10 games before you figure out who else you go with in the off-season

  • Coach P - 5 years ago

You all need to relax and understand, until you have a running game that has some kind of effect on the game, Mitch will struggle. He IS the quarterback you will Love one you get a running game. You have to open up the pass with the run, not the other way around. You will NEVER find a more Passionate athlete to lead your team. IF you get a running game you will do more than sing Praises to Mitch, He will be your hero and lead you to the ring you haven’t seen since 85. Give him some space while the coach figures it out, but don’t throw him under the bus for throwing 54 passes! You gotta run the ball in the NFL to help a quarterback.

  • Max Humbaugh Jr. - 5 years ago

The Bears have spent enough time with Trubisky to know that he is not the guy that they moved up in the draft to get to become their franchise quarterback. They didn't move up to get a game manager, that can't even do that. It's time to accept the fact that he's not the answer and cut their loss and while devising the next plan, put Chase in and let him manage games and hope to salvage the rest of the season. Remember 2006?? Don't let Trubisky wreck the whole season when Chase can manage a game like Orton did and let our defense take us to the promise Land!

  • Rafealj - 5 years ago

Fix the o-line thats all and have a running game mitch played 100 percent better last season because he had time he was hitting every receiver last season not only robinson but robinson is the only receiver getting any separation this season

  • Choc74 - 5 years ago

Bench Mitch!! Plain and simple, Mitch is not It PERIOD. EVERYONE and I do mean Everyone knew on Draft night he was not the answer! He was drafted ahead of two QB's that was clearly better and battle tested . Why pass on Watson? He only won the Heisman and took his Team (Clemson) to the Championship Game not once but two years in a row? Duh? Why over think it ? Mitch is terrible as our starting QB!!! He consistantly stares one receiver down Robinson. Any other receiver that's open, wide open , he overthrow them. Praying my Bears will ever get the QB right, once again they've got it WRONG!!! COMPLETELY WRONG!! WHO cares if someone was gone move ahead of us to take him, hell Mahomes or Watson would've clearly been a better consolation pick and we could've kept our pick at #3.

  • Rafeal j - 5 years ago

Fix the o-line fix the run game give mitch some time in the pocket to process the field i also think naggy needs to stop calling plays and no do not bench mitch the offense as whole has no Rhythm at all only A-rob is playing football

  • Abdulhamid Abdulhaqq - 5 years ago

The problem is that since last year Nagy has failed to pound the ball. The run game was dominate before Nagy got there. Nagy needs to change his run scheme and use Burton primarily as a receiver not an every down TE he’s too small. Wims also needs to star ver Gabriel to help out with the blocking on run calls and give Mitch a bigger target.

  • Doug - 5 years ago

Behind that line....Rodgers could not complete a pass.....plus,Nagy wants him to be pure pocket passer.. go back to last year play design ...let him run...now he does not know what to do.. .this is Nagy......should have found to massive tackles...he will be alright......poor play calling...3third and 2...Cordell and Robinson same side...easy pick up line and everyone should just block and the D should tackle...simple......had coaching.....game is simple...just block, tackle and execute...if you can not do that...go sell shoes

  • Chris - 5 years ago

Knee jerk "I'm upset, sad and hurt my Bears lost and are looking worse each game" reaction, yes, bench him! Composed professional reaction, no, Chase is not better than Trubisky...period! Before making that sort of decision which would be even more detrimental if you do not do this first i.e. FIX THE O-LINE! The offense line is not just bad...they are horrendous!

  • Darrick Jackson - 5 years ago

Tyler Bray should get a shot with the first string players. His preseason play shows his ability to move the ball down field. Coach Nagy brought the kid with him from Kansas City, it's time to see what he can do!!

  • Rich - 5 years ago

Bench him and bring in Tyler Bray and play him instead of Chase. Chase can be the backup to Tyler. Once Mitch is 100%, try him again.

  • Delong J Evans - 5 years ago

They Should bench him, plenty of our players will be gone after this year & we should do whatever we can to make it back to the playoffs, we don't benefit from Mitch's athleticism or his slightly stronger arm than chase Daniels, at least Chase knows the offense like the back of his hand and he can read defenses. We will be better off with him

  • Bakari Finley - 5 years ago

There is no better back up. Mitch plays better in the longer he plays. He also plays better when he can run. Until Chicago gets another WN back there NO way because Chase Daniels is not it.
