Should Chargers throw 2019 season away?

Rivers may be at the end of his career, but if he could just get a modicum of protection from the O line, he's still a winner.
On a side note...Anyone thinking Spanos is gonna pull his head out of his butt and get rid of T.T., or sell the team is delusional....

Been saying this since week 3-4 when all the injuries piled on.. give me those high draft picks over a middle of the pack record/draft spot all day any day.

Give up = no heart! I don't think giving up is ever a option in the game.

What in the hell is this? Tank the season? Pride is apparently a joke now a day's. Top QB,HB,WR,DE's,CB's and there's a pole to vote on weather or not we should give up? This is a franchise who went 1-5 in the early 90's and made the playoffs. You wanna be fans step out and let us lifers keep the faith.

Oh I forgot... F Dean Spanos.

Give up? Why would you ever give up? What a loser mentality people must have. Keep playing, keep trying, keep winning and let's see where we end up. We are only two games back. Stay positive Charger fans!

Been a Chargers fan since Fouts. Rivers is nothing but a compiler. Just a stat man, when things get tough he wastes a time out. A time out you need later. In the game. You blitz or bull rush him he throws it away. Maybe a hall of famer, but never a winner. Time for a change.

I agree with all the comments seau55 nailed it. How can we not have a offensive line after all these years? Dallas did it no problem, Raiders, and hell even the colts. TT is a cheapskate and so is his daddy Spanos. Spanos doesn’t care about fans.

The reason was officially over when they didn't trade lame-duck Melvin Gordon for offensive linemen. Let the tank begin (if it hasn't yet).

The most important job for any GM that has a franchise quarterback is to protect the franchise quarterback. It's a no-brainer. Tom Telesco has failed to see the light bulb go off for seven years as the Chargers GM. No protection for your $20M quarterback? And don't forget the damage Telesco created by getting rid of one of the best kickers in the game in Josh Lambo. What was he thinking? How many games has that brainless move cost the Chargers? Telesco will never live that decision down. Not only is Lambo a very good kicker, he was one of the best in the league on kickoffs with the Chargers. It's time to clean house. Yes, GM and coaching staff. CLEAN HOUSE!

Games are won at the line of scrimmage. You have a $20M quarterback and you don't build to protect him. This is senseless. That front office is asleep at the wheel, including the Spanos clan. Tom Telesco has failed Rivers and the Chargers. He's been the GM for seven years now. He's got to go. The blame for Rivers being gun-shy, throwing unnecessary picks, rushing his throws and being endlessly hit falls on Tom Telesco's shoulders. In those seven years he's got Russell Okung (2017) and nothing more. The Chargers haven't had a solid offensive line since around 2007-2008. Rivers is not the problem. Telesco's failure to protect Rivers is the problem. I'd also clean house with this coaching staff. What other D-Coordinator will surrender 15-25 yards regularly on third and long for a punt. Field position is out the door with Gus Bradley. When the tv game commentators are criticizing Bradley's ridiculous prevent defense on 3rd and long, you know something is wrong. He has no problem giving up 25 yards at will if it's 3rd and 26. Should the Chargers lose two more games, I'd like to see what Easton Stick can do with his mobility. Rivers is a sitting duck with what's in front of him. At least Stick will have a chance to escape. And who knows if he's our future until we get a taste of what he can do in season.

Yea give up. You are the chargers and you never stand a chance.

Just from studying all the fanbases over the years....Chargers fans seem to be the smartest overall...But thats perhaps because the only ones left are the few and strong willed fans....We keep coming back time and time again, and expecting a different result...60 years nothing to show for it...And no team loses games in the fashion we do. We are the most resilient fans in the NFL....(At least the Browns fans know they wont win) We have to deal with the raising of our hopes, only to be let down in the most unexplainable ways possible... I commend all of you for staying here and repping this cursed team. RESPECT!!!!!

Glad some of you are staying positive, however you’re not seeing the same Offensive line the rest of us are watching. They are inexperienced and lack talent. Phil can’t work comfortably

I agree with everyone’s comments for the most part sucks not seeing GATES85 with RIVERS dean doesn’t give a crap no RECOGNITION for the 85 player once RIVERS goes I’m DONE the sad shit is WTF do I do with my jersey Gates Rivers Woodhead LT Natrone Means Rodney Richardson 55 SEAU RIP and posters and other gear team belongs in SAN DIEGO ⚡️

  • Albert Ramirez - 4 years ago

I think the majority of Chargers fans like myself dislike the owner dean????Spanos he could have been the hero by keeping the Chargers in San Diego instead his in a market that belongs to the Raiders because even the rams don’t have enough fans I would have felt better if team move to Las Vegas with a different name that is Chargers name and logo needs to stay in SD I feel sad looking at the players and knowing they have no support you can tell they have given up dean needs to sell the team

When Greedy Spanos took the Chargers from San Diego and put them in a city where everyone hates them I was done being a life long fan. This was a disastrous move for a team I once loved. It’s to painful to watch. I love the players, coaches and team. But can’t stand the horrible ownership at all. Good luck in LA Dean

I agree the Spanos and ?? Never have helped Phil out with a front line very sad after Phil is out I'm out too but will continue to follow bosa

  • Rafael Solorzano - 4 years ago

I have followed PR since he was drafted by San Diego, I have patiently waited for him to develop and yes, he has the stats and his own charisma, but he is not going to get any better or any younger, he is also not Tom Brady and his time has run out to win a SB, thus its time to call it a career, Tom Telesco has failed him and the fans in not drafting/trading for a first rate Offensive line to protect him as he favors this idiotic "best athlete available philosophy" , that is like being sent out for meat and you come home with a box of cookies. Stupid, stupid!

  • Michael - 4 years ago

We all know Rivers is the best QB from November on...Last game was a fluke on a Thursday...DHe lead the GW drive but our depleted defense choked.

  • Michael - 4 years ago

Tolesco is one of the best drafting GMS, but the worst at improving the team through FA or mid-season... the "Next man-up" mentality has killed us year after year...No player in NFL History has dealt with as many injured teammates or bad luck as Rivers....Dudes whole career is one big sad story.

  • Michael - 4 years ago

Chiefs just lost, meaning if we win next Monday in Mexico City, we are still VERY much alive in the playoff race....However, this may be the last game I get my hopes up for....Too much pain from this disaster of a franchise an ownership...Not sure Ill stick around after Rivers retires.

  • Dan Johnson - 4 years ago

Couldn’t agree more with Fred. The fault lies with GM. They knew they had a weak offensive line and did nothing to solve it! Rivers is not mobile but he can complete passes with a decent amount of time. Also the running backs can’t going without a push from the o line. Good God management! Wake up!!!

  • Lew Rubin - 4 years ago

2 games behind in division with 6 to go including 2 vs Chiefs
    No reason to give up

  • Fred - 4 years ago

Phillip Rivers hasn't been at his best but to be fair Telesco did nothing to fix the offensive line and continues to do nothing ....as well as drafting injury prone players and stupid projects while lamely relying on UDFA's. Coaching continually displays lapses in preparation and in game adjustments. So whose to blame for this shit storm of failure? The boners... I mean owners, Toleso, and Lynn in that order.
