You can’t simply value the pick it turned into as what they gave up for Fitzpatrick, that assumes Fitzpatrick didn’t change the outcome of any games he played relative to whom he replaced, which is patently false. In fact, if you go so far as to say his impact on the defense was worth one score per game, either due to preventing a score, getting a defensive score, or some other means, which isn’t unfathomable, the Steelers would have ended up 2-14 and would currently have the first overall pick, a pick that makes the trade look awful for the Steelers as they’re missing out on Joe Burrow, their next franchise QB. However, I’d say anything short of that scenario where they end up with Burrow, means it’s no worse than a “push” when evaluating the trade.

I’d say it was good for both teams. They are basically gambling that Big Ben has a few years left and that they have a playoff window that’s still open. If Ben retires then they should of kept the pick and hopefully lost a few games to take a QB this year.

Too early to tell. We have no idea if Minkah will continue to progress nor do we know who will be available at #18. It’s possible MF doesn’t play at a probowl level and it’s possible we miss out on a HOF’er.
I understand the trade though and right now it looks like a good move for both teams.

First round picks (or any pick, for that matter) is never a sure thing. Steelers know what they have and he is absolutely worth a first round pick.

Great trade you got a player of Troys P style with a year of experiance wouldn’t get a defensive back that good in the draft plus he’s able to play now great trade need more be ready in 2020
