I am gutted that they killed off Melendez and it makes no sense. He was such a likeable and central character. He became even more so when he and Lim fell in love. I’ve rarely seen such vulnerability and believability in a male character. It was like they were developing him in an awesome direction and then they decided in 1 episode to get rid of him. It felt really rushed and nonsensical. For 3 seasons we’ve watched these doctors come up with radical treatments to save patients with the slimmest of hopes and here’s their beloved friend and colleague and they didn’t even put him on IV antibiotics to try to prevent septic shock???? I assumed that he’d quit to pursue something big - to find out he was axed??? What the hell kind of stupidity is this from the production team? This show has a habit of adding depth to characters and making the audience love them and then terminating the character - think season 1 and Jared Kalu- he went from being a shallow wanker to someone who was vulnerable and loving and has been abandoned by his parents and overcome all that and we fell in love with him and then…. gone! I’m thinking it’s pointless to bother with watching further

It is such a great and amazing show . Amazing writers my god ...we can’t believe how each episode hits home and pulls you in to love every character in their own way . The realistic and wholesomeness is truly captivating .... we love it .
However , when dr Melendez got hurt and died I just didn’t get it .hes amazing and it crushed my heart ❤️ and no funeral in his memory is not acceptable
Don’t get me wrong we love the show we will continue to watch but I was heartbroken and didn’t get it.

This show is very good entertainment. We love it. The characters are wonderful. The finale was scatterbrained and the entire premise was thin and poorly thought out. All of these exceptional doctors go to help earthquake victims but it seemed that only ONE building in the city was affected. One dr. sat beside a person who he knew was a total lost cause the entire time and helped NO OTHER PERSON...so, actually.... he helped NOBODY. Two focused on a totally unbelievable surgery on a SINGLE PERSON there on the spot, then, both left. Shaun helped only ONE PERSON as well. While his focused motives were more understandable, the amputation scenario was so off-the-cliff ridiculous we were left groaning and shaking our heads. That woman will have to get into the Guinness book of Records for casual conversation in the wake of horrific injuries.....that caused her more inconvenience than pain. So, four mega doctors helped TWO PEOPLE. Back to the hospital where Melendez, who was very alert and healthy, goes into dying mode in his 10 minute exit scene, the viewing audience is baffled, having no understanding of the medical jargon used to explain his painless predicament. More eye-rolling where he and Claire have decided to last-minute, be in love with each other. Seriously?? Did this cast get instructions to adlib this episode? Was there a car to the winner who could out-over-act everyone else? Did someone at a mall win a contest to be able to write this finale? This episode makes the term “OVERKILL” boring and wimpy. ( Next year look to the newly created term in the dictionary....”good-doctor-overkill”.) It’s a new level of you’ve-got-to-be-kidding.
Very...VERY....disappointing. Two main characters leaving, and another, Dr.Reznick, is out of the main mix because of a totally freakish, bizarre timing, life ending situation that forced her to end her surgery career. Well.....she, too, was trying to win that car...????. And...come on! Dr. Park breaks down and moves away for this?? After all the horrible, heartbreaking, gut-wrenching stuff he has had roll off his back so far, this time it was out of his hands. Sorry....no way he is that nine-year-old-girl unprofessional that he goes crying home. Yikes. Maybe it’s the writers, rather than the actors, you should be sending packing.
ONE OF THE WORST SEASON FINALES ...EVER.
    You’re welcome.

I want Shaun and Claire back together Claire is the perfect match for Shaun instead of lea I hope season 4 can make Shaun and Claire together as happy ending. Lea is not suitable with Shaun.

  • Roxy - 3 years ago

Very dumb decision to kill Melendez. He was the reason most people kept watching.. goodbye good doctor, never wasting my time on this show again . Although all actors did a great job, and the story was quite ok too, I am disgusted by reading the reason of having killed off it's most popular character. Oh, happy holidays anyway..

  • Jacquelyn Jefferso - 3 years ago

Ok now make his (Dr. Melendez), COMEBACK: an excellent episode also!

  • M - 3 years ago

I mis-typed in a comment below. Apologies meant Dr Claire no Carlie. Probably would matter anyway. For most people season 3 is old news now but I have to say it left me drained and traumatised. I won’t be watching the series further. I think writers need to be very clear about their responsibilities towards their viewers. I don’t feel that the respect given to the audience is sincere. The entire show is designed to simply influence ratings and focus on endless drama. I wish a new genre of script writing would emerge that is not so sensationalist. The focus is not long on the development of stories that take the audience on a journey that means something. It’s just about trying to trigger panic, binge watching or creating fear of loss. Life is challenging enough. Why do most of these shows always move to the dark and heavy side? The actors on the show were well chosen and I comment them for their amazing efforts. I won’t continue watching this show. Not that they care - but I did. Damn Shame!

What a shocking ending to season 3. Killing off Dr Melendez was completely unexpected and unnecessary. What a tragic loss to this show. I am GUTTED! I feel like it’s an epic failure for the writing team or whoever came up with that idiotic idea! What a lack of imagination. So short sighted. As for Leah suddenly having such a change of heart - It was just far too rushed. How patronising to think the audience would suddenly buy this change of heart. Seems like the exodus of actors was just too many for one episode. There is no point in watching this show if the writers don’t respect the viewers enough to take them through the journey of healing that would have been so amazing for Malendez and Carlie. It’s as if these writers have completely underestimated and undermined the viewers journey. Brilliant actors (most) and Malendez was an absolute favourite. I am likely to boycot this show out of principle. Total disrespect for the audience. What’s the point of exploring the concept of love with Sean and then killing it with Carlie - when we all felt the connection growing. The writer who came up with this idea and the should be fired! By killing off Dr Malendez the writers have shown that they are only focussed on hype and drama ratings per episode and are not committed to the longevity and sustainability of the tv series. What you saved in your budget from cutting Dr Malendez from the show prematurely could cost you the future of this show. Many loyal fans will feel betrayed and manipulated.

I had not watched season 3 until recently. I fell back in love with the show largely because of Dr. Melendez's character. He was a moral compass for the show, a real man who balanced strength with vulnerability, who loved deeply. To have him killed off was so disappointing. The Good Doctor has again lost me as a viewer.

  • Yvette - 3 years ago

I was soooo disappointed when Dr. Melendez was killed off the show!! I was excited to see where his relationship was going with Claire. Dr. Melendez was such an important cast member.

As far as Shaun and Leah, is she really going to change and be patient with him????

I can see the show going downhill from here. The writers need to do better. I am contemplating continuing with the show!

  • Gaby - 3 years ago

I feel like somebody broke my heart. Never seen a desicion, more stupid than that. Made us fell in love with Claire and Melendez and than kill him... WHY?? ????????

  • Monique - 3 years ago

Killing Dr Melendez was not cool and I don't know if I'll like the show without that character:(
Love the rest of the characters, but that hit hard. I agree with everyone else, You could have killed off any of the other characters and it would have been perfectly fine for shock value- obviously except for Sean and Lea, dr glassman and Dr Browne

  • Andrea Kolarova - 3 years ago

The finale for me was horrible, very angry about it. They shouldn't kill off Dr. Melendez he was a great character I watched the show because of him. They need to somehow bring him back, raise him from the dead I dont care just bring him back ????????. Unfortunately I won't be watching the new season, dont care for it anymore after that.

  • Michele Harmeyer - 3 years ago

I hated the writers killed Dr. Melendez. I think it was a power trip on the writers par. I think this act shows how disloyal the writers are to the very actors/actresses that made it a great show.

I honestly don't even like Sean and Leah together, so I think it will go downhill from here. I don't think it will keep my interest or be worth me tuning in.

I'll find a show with better writers.

I have really enjoyed the first three seasons of this show. But killing Dr. Melendez was definitely a huge mistake. It’s things like this that kill a show. Like how are you gonna find somebody to replace him? That will be even half as good. you make us fall in love with the character and than kill him after 3 seasons ? He obviously didn’t want to leave. just shitty.

  • Linda - 4 years ago

I agree with most of the above comments re: killing off Dr. Melendez. So sad & disappointed that he is gone...

  • Tonya Holyfield - 4 years ago

I'm very upset they killed Melendez off. They need to make it a dream sequence and bring him back or I'm not watching the show anymore.

  • Gio - 4 years ago

Worst decision ever. Will not keep watching the show.

  • Audrey - 4 years ago

This end of season makes absolutely no sense at all. They decided to push Neil Melendez off the show for shocking value ?!?
This is the worst mistake they could ever make ! This character is literally the heart of the show !
Without him, there's no point of watching the show. He is clearly the character that makes me watch all the episodes of the show !!!
He was à jerk guy, too much arrogant and selfish, I disliked him in the first episode but I notice he has a lot of potential.
And he proves he has ! His (only ?!?) scene with his sister, the way he's started a ring with his patients and finally the way he helps Claire not drown after she lost her Mother, her former lover and her Best friend shows how important Neil Melendez is !
He was an arrogant man and he learns to be a better version of himself by listening and learning from People around him !
His relationship with claire is so rich and has not been developed enough. Their mutual respect, their mutual love (they can't still share our loud because he's his attending) bring the show into another dimension and bring more and more viewers each week.
There's no way he can be pushed out !!!

It’s been about two months since the finale aired and the only thing I can say is that this show is absolute shit. Truly, the showrunner himself shows his true colors of being an asinine and inept storyteller. No one asked for shock value. The finale didn’t even fit with the rest of the season much less the series. This finale felt like the great value version of Grey’s Anatomy. It was so poorly executed that it made me loathe the show I’ve been religiously following for three years. Not only to perpetuate an abusive and toxic relationship with Shaun and Lea, but Shore also decided to kill off the literal only redeeming character other than Claire. Seriously, does David Shore hate people of color? He sidelines Andrews most of the season, tortures Claire consistently for three years, Isabelle is missing, Allegra is seemingly out of the show, Lim was reduced down to her lackluster relationship with Melendez, Carly was straight up forgotten after they discarded her when she was no longer needed and the only interesting thing about Park is his son who lives in, let me get this right, PHOENIX? Then, in the finale, we see the white characters get their happy ending (Shaun and Lea), we see Claire loss yet ANOTHER person she loves, Lim loses her partner in crime, Park essentially has his heart ripped out watching Casey die. YET SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY an old man, Glassman, sustains NO injuries from the earthquake, pops his shoulder in place and goes back to working??? are you KIDDING ME? And then he basically kills melendez and doesn’t even exhaust any resources to save his best damn surgeon in the hospital. Shaun somehow isn’t reprimanded for BREAKING PROTOCOL TO RUN INTO RUBBLE AND FIND LEA. He somehow performs an amputation UNDER WATER and doesn’t kill Vera?? He himself doesn’t drown?? are you KIDDING ME? Somehow Lea doesn’t sustain any injuries even though she LITERALLY FELL THROUGH THE FLOOR WHEN THE BEER THING FELL ARE YOU JOKING ME? What was the point of all that bullshit CGI then huh? Jesus fucking christ. And then for some reason, even though Shaun literally THREATENED HER WITH A BAT TWO EPISODES PRIOR, she tells him he makes her more?? I almost threw up watching that horseshit. And not to mention they decided to cut to that clip after they killed Melendez. Melendez and Claire deserved better. That whole storyline is a rant for itself. Why even bait their potential relationship when you were going to kill him off anyways? Were the ratings worth it David? You’re signing yourself up to be DOA for season 4. Truly screw this finale. David Shore is the absolute worst writer I’ve had the displeasure to watch and I hope he lost his damn job after this shit finale. If you made it to the end of this, then congrats and I will never waste another second watching this shit show. Nicholas Gonzalez, i’m sorry. You deserved better. Melendez deserves better. I hope to god they bring you back and this was all some kind of hallucination because holy fuck this was bad.

  • Jeanette Ellis - 4 years ago

I've loved this show from day 1. Loved all the characters. Hat Melendez being written out. Would have liked to see Claire and his relationship to have grown on the show. Will have to see about how it goes next year. They better come up with something good to replace Melendez or bring him back miraculously for me to hang around.

  • Jan Wills - 4 years ago

so hocked and sad to see Dr Melendez has been written off the show. I am hoping Nicholas Gonzalez will be moving on to bigger and better things. I will look forward to seeing him perhaps on the ‘Big’ screen! All the best to you!

I watched all the episodes and fr there i admired the character of dr.melendez, his character was inspiring fr there and watching the GD made me to admire and like him i should say he become my fave actor ..to the story its kind of saddened abt what happend to him but the show has to grow its will be difficult as well for melendez and claire to work in the OR again knowing they have feelings for each other thats y lim become ex that another reason ...well i hope season4 will have a twist on his character,,it ends his in bed died ul never know heart beats comes back Ta-da.. I will wait and see hopefuly...will miz him but????

  • Stella Matutina - 4 years ago

I’ve just watched the last chapter (3/20) and I feel so disappointed to see D Melendez dying, leaving for ever
Besides, the relationship Shaun-Leah piss me off very much
    Not credible at all
Is it possible to undo these terrible decisions?
    I hope so

Hmmmmm I've made several comments on how disgusted I am with the writers and producers who made the stupid decision to kill Dr Melendez!!! Dr melendez and Claire made the show. We looked forward to them being a couple. Just completely ruined the whole show.. And during the covid19 they decided to kill him off? Very distasteful! Your rating will drop!!

I really like the show and I really liked Dr. MELENDEZ. I believe it was a mistake to cut him off the show.
Your writers surely could have done a better job to keep him.????

  • Sofia Freitas - 4 years ago

Killing Dr. Melendez!!!??? Really!? I know this show is about Shaun, but beautiful aside storys are also needed. You just killed a great story with lots of potential.

  • David L Zipf - 4 years ago

I am an old guy who, as both enlisted and civilian, pit 38yrs in military service .. I lost many(!) friends and fellow servicemen/women ... this show is a drama, not a fantasy or comedy.... it portrays life and death .. dr M was a favorite of mine but things do happen to people who are your favorite friends and to family members, so losing this good dr is painful but it is realistic... the story is really about a man who has been challenged since birth and about his success and failures in a very complex setting ...
losing dr M is saddening but it is realistic which is something the writers are striving for... not every patient lives, not every relationship is good, and those close to you do die ... but the opposite of that is overcoming obstacles that threaten life, creating loving relationships, and dealing successfully with your problems ... as much as I liked dr M, losing him does not stop everyone else from living and succeeding in endeavors on and off the job .. so I will continue to watch this show in order to find out just how far The Good Dr can go, as both a dr and a person ...

  • Aundrea Washington - 4 years ago

I was very sad to see Dr.Melendez go, I wanted to see where the relationship between he and Claire would go. However, much success to Nicholas Gonzales on future endeavors.

  • Nadz - 4 years ago

You writers make a big mistake to kill Dr. Melendez in the show. You can do better than that. The show don't have any meaning now , it is going to be bland. It doesn't matter who you bring in as new your story line cur off from Melendez. The team is the story line at least you could send home Dr chan to his boy and ex wife but losing Melendez is a big mistake. Without Melendez I can't watch the show

  • Marlene Marino - 4 years ago

I agree with everyone else. Dr Melendez was the best character. He was the center and core of the docs and hospital. The season was excellent up until the last 10 min. Why on earth would you write off the most amazing doc in “the good doc”? Yes he was hot, but he was also the one that all the other docs looked up to and loved. Men and women. Poor decision. If nothing else, the writers should have left the ending “open”. Not looking forward to the next session. Sad. With all of the news of the world,
Really poor way to end! Disappointed.

  • Rae parks - 4 years ago

With Carly and Melendez leaving the show so am I and all my friends that loved the show. We can watch the news and see all the deaths we want to. Reality isn’t what we want. Hope it cancels!

  • Pauline Williams - 4 years ago

Huge mistake with the death of an amazing character. I know it’s a lot of his choice and he felt ready to move in from what I’ve read but not going to be a fan of the show going forward!

  • Diane - 4 years ago

You HAVE TO BRING DR M BACK!! The show will not be the same. He was a main character! He shouldn’t have died after he and Claire declared their love for each other. I didn’t realize he had died...they just left him there and didn’t cover his body!! And then just walked away??? Sooo disappointing!! Lea is not for Shawn. She will end up hurting him, she too much of a spaz!! I’m not looking forward to season 4. I probably won’t even watch it.

  • Judy - 4 years ago

Why did you kill Melendez. He was my favourite character. Such a great actor. And that heartless scene where the ladies walk off planning to get a drink sometime? They should be laying on the floor, broken! I was more heartbroken than they were. Bring Dr. Melendez back!!!!!!!!

  • Ann - 4 years ago

This was a travesty. What is wrong with you people? Dr. Melendez made this show! Why would you build up the chemistry between him and Claire to do this? I agree with all the others you need to fix this error and bring him back! Miracles happen and if you want to save this show you should correct the biggest mistake I can remember in decades on network television! #SaveDrMelendez

  • Larry - 4 years ago

We just quit your show unless you figure out how to bring Dr. M back.

  • Cen - 4 years ago

Well, probably what everyone else said, but more so. It just cratered the show to have Dr. M. die. Write him back in.

  • Sue Buss - 4 years ago

You took away my favorite character. Sad day.

  • KR - 4 years ago

I agree with everyone else. Melendez has evolved from the shallow self centered character that he was in the first season to my favorite actor in the show besides Shaun. Also, I agree with everyone else that Shaun and Lea are terrible, boring and ridiculous together. That is a brother sister friendship at best. It will put the viewers to sleep at 10 PM when it airs.
The writers should put an end to that mistake immediately. I thought perhaps Shaun would end up with the poor woman he saved at best!

  • Loyi - 4 years ago

Wrong person to drop from show. In my opinion Lea should go- worst actress of all. Melendez held the show together more than Sean.

  • RGriffin - 4 years ago

To early for Dr Melendez to die. He was the main reason for what I watched the show!!!

  • Catherine A Perry - 4 years ago

This last episode of dying off the character of Dr Melendez is going to bite you in the butt & I hope it hurts!! I loved watching this handsome man & I was hoping to see his & Clare’s roles & the love develop between then. Claire had a rough past not of her on making so it would have been great to her finally getting a chance at happiness. Also the character of Melendez being written out of the show I believe it’s the worst decision you people have made and though it’s a great show it is being ruined by writing off of your most favorite characters & though I love the show & Dr Murphy & looking forward to watching his new role of Lea’s boyfriend. That was the happy ending that I was wanting but what you did to the role of dr Melendez I hate it. You people at times do the most stupid things & I have to ask what, whom & why would you risk the possibility of losing the show. Mr Highmore is a great almost perfect actor ,and he is the reason I watch the show but you can’t have1 star on a series with so many actors Melendez was the second star & I believe if there were a poll asking everyone what their feelings about him being written out well I can guarantee you you won’t get nice replies. I would like to use a few curse words but won’t ! Now let’s try to remedy this situation ok? I know he is suppose to be dead but miracles happen on TV so let’s say dr Melendez while he is down in the morgue but hasn’t been touched then dr Murphy wants to see him & say his goodbyes & respect & as he is talking to him he notices the sheet has a slight rising but dr Murphy dismisses it but then he sees a finger twitch & he gets very excited in his autism way realizing he was alive. He screams for help & Shawn can see what can be done to save him! I know in real life that most likely would never happen but remember this is TV get some professionals ( real life) to come up with telling how that will work! We are the fans of this show we feel it’s our viewing of it is what keeps this show going but we won’t if you take the second heart out of the show! I wish I could tell the character of drMelendez that I pray they put him back on the series for I have so enjoyed his character so much so that I’m making a plea to get you back on the show & the writers sawI’m can have dr Murphy see there has been a mistake in the diagnosis & he fixes it! Now that is what you will have to do to save this once great series now from a slow burn! And don’t take off anymore of our favorite characters. Also I would like to see the young man of the 1st season, Claire’s1st love interest. come back on the show.Lastly, I love the show & looking forward to scenes with Shawn & Lea & hoping no more stupid moves. If the character of Dr Melendez asked to leave the show I’m sorry to know he did that bc there could be many years of this series & I know he will again will be great & favored but would rather it be on The Doctor’s well that’s all I have to say on this matte! Thank you for this opportunity to express my views! God bless each of you in the making of the great show & lets let it run a long time but with dr Melendez!!! Please

  • Julie - 4 years ago

The producer failed horribly in this finale. Dr. Malendez was my favorite character. You kill off some characters but not the best one. You’ll lose fans. Ya lost me.

  • A.V. - 4 years ago

If he died then why didn't Claire covered him with the sheet? Hopefully they are trying to mislead us. I can't see them building up Melendez and Claire's storyline to just leave it at nothing. I've watched since day one and Sean would have been there saving the day. I hope to see him next season. Won't be the same without him. It was a terrible idea. Unless he is getting his own show like the guy from New Amsterdam. We viewers deserve better. It seems an unfinished ending.

Why???? He was the hot doctor. He was the reason I watched the show. Please come up with some soap opera like way to bring him back. He has so much left to do, learn and explore. Besides, Dr. Murphy hasn’t had a chance to contemplate surgical genius...Shaun needs his chance to save the man who has consistently been there for him.

  • Helen - 4 years ago

Sure didn't like the finale. Got rid of the one Dr. that held everthing together an made the show interesting. He cant be replaced his character made it watchable.

So very wrong to have Dr. Melendez die and leave the show!! Not sure if I’ll continue to watch this favorite show of mine now!!
PLEASE BRING DR. M BACK TO THE SHOW!!!

  • Sharonda Fawbush - 4 years ago

I'm so upset about taking Melendez away!! Claire and him make the show honestly. I mean I like Shawn but so many other actors could have been written off. It will be very hard for me to pick the show back up next season. Uggghhh!!!!!????????????. Otherwise, I enjoyed the show except that part!

  • L Hall - 4 years ago

Totally disappointed that Dr. Melendez was killed off. You left NO room for him to come back and his character definitely had so much more that could have been developed. WE AS FANS should have been able to see him say goodbye to everyone not just a few. Whoever made the decision didn’t make a good one.

Lost me as a viewer after Melendez died, please consider a way to bring him back. Write out the blonde doc, can't stand her. WILL NEVER WATCH AGAIN!!!

Great show , but so very disappointed.. Should NOT have killed off Dr. Melendez, so very very WRONG !!, also as opposed to most, I would have rather had Shaun be in relationship with Carly and NOT Leah.. Uuggghhh !!

Not watching season 4 since they killed off one of the best actors. Bad mistake! You lost me as a fan.

  • Carol - 4 years ago

So upset that they killed off Dr Menendez! And the last scene with Claire and Lim was so lame... bawling their eyes out one minute and then “we should have a drink sometime” as they casually walk down the hall? Shawn should have been there to save Dr Menendez instead of in a basement amputating someone’s leg! Geeze! Shawn needs someone besides Leah. She won’t be faithful to him. The best acting was Dr Park. Cried right along with him. So disappointed in the season finale.

  • Debbie Campbell - 4 years ago

I really didn't like the decision to kill off Dr. Melendez's character6. I feel that his character was very important to the show, I wanted to see the love relationship of Dr. Melendez and Clair, they've both always wanted a loving relationship, but never found one until they found each other. We've all, at some point in our lives, have looked for Cinderella type relationships, and some of us are still looking; I'm aware that these shows are based on life experiences, but we still dream of the ideal relationship and true love. I'm still expecting and hoping for a Bobby Ewing scenario, that Pam was only dreaming that Bobby had died. Please, Please, Please; Bring Dr. Melendez's character back and let both Dr. Melendez and Clair both have their happiness together. In this day and time, we all need to have hope for true love.

Ok, what a rip off. Super upset. What are the writers thinking? I think claire and Melendez had a chance. Too much heartbreak. I don't know if I'm going to watch it in the 4th season. Dr Melendez is a good doctor and a really good match for claire. Not happy at all. Can't the writer's tell that a lot of people are super upset by Melendez death? Stupid stupid

Dr Melendez is a good doctor and a really good match for claire. Not happy at all. Can't the writer's tell that a lot of people are super upset by Melendez death? Stupid stupid

  • Adrienne N - 4 years ago

I was very very sad to see Dr. Melendez go. I don't understand why either. There was so much the writers could have dove into for his character going forward. Did the writers run out of ideas? I was confused and heartbroken that he was written off the series. I didn't think it was his time.
Also, that was an incredibly difficult episode to watch with so much sadness. I really hate when doctor shows kill off kids. Maybe b/c I'm a mom of 3 kids ,but that crushed me to see that kid die in such a grueling way. And the trauma in his family. Ugh, that was tough. Lots of tears last night.

  • Melanie Peterson - 4 years ago

I love Melendez - really sad not to see him in future episodes.

  • Evita Mwangi - 4 years ago

The last two episodes were rushed and not well throught through. Too many things were happening at the same time but everything about the series went down hill after killing Dr Melendez. The goodbyes at the end lacked depth, it was too formal and lacked proper execution ????????. It was more like the end on the show than a season. The worst bit was the writters didn't have a good enough reason as to why Dr Melendez was cut from the show too early...smh!!
I'm so disappointed, nothing to look foward to. All the best!!

Please bring Dr. Melendez back. I loved his character,

  • Ramona N. - 4 years ago

I loved the show until the ending. I had been looking forward to Dr Melendez and Claires love hookup since tuning in on the first episode. You gave us a crumb this season and we never got the whole slice. The episode was a tear jerky with the young boy in the bar and especially with Dr Melendez and Claires scenes . I was hoping during the show Shaun would make it back to save Dr Melendez or this is just a dream of Claires. Maybe the writers can repair this shows tragedy outcome because it really was a LET DOWN!!

why why why... when ss1 and ss2 were over, i could hardly wait for the next season, days and weeks and months of waiting seemed so long and slow...
but for once, i am not really looking or waiting for next season...
shaun and lea, cmon man... no neil? geez... and park too?
and the whole finale episode just dont make sense, you think we are so stupid? those surgeries dont make sense...

  • JWillems - 4 years ago

I think that's too many character changes at once. Melendez dead, Morgan can no longer operate, Park potentially leaving. The surgical team is cut in half in one swipe. I thought Melendez was a great character, a stabilizing force, I guess now they'll bring in some tyrant again to shake things up and create drama. Not sure where this is going and if this was the right thing to do with a show that was running well.

  • Marlene P Titus - 4 years ago

Never should have killed off Neil I my opinion ruined the show . Am getting tired of hearing about shawn"s love life. Probably will not watch again big mistakes made in season 3 finale.

  • Dawn - 4 years ago

So typical. Why do all these shows set in California give us an earthquake and take a beloved character in the process? Also typical is an operation performed under totally ridiculous circumstances (this one was a particular insult to the viewer's intelligence). I also didn't get a sense of real urgency at the hospital. Maybe they took most of the patients to another hospital.

That Shaun and Lea are now together (seemingly) adds insult to injury.

The only saving grace was Dr. Park helping that kid die.

    That was my last episode.

  • Suzanne - 4 years ago

I love this show so much that I watched each and every episodes till now. I am in love with Dr Melendez personality. I really want him back in season 4.

  • Gaynell - 4 years ago

I love this show. I hate Melendez is not returning. I would have like to see that relationship get a chance.

  • Nga - 4 years ago

    1. I totally disagree with the ss3 finale of killing Dr. Melendez off. His acting is excellent and his character brought ballances to the show. He is kind, always listening and normally has no biased decisions, which are nature of a good doctor.
    2. I propose to bring him back in ss4. Otherwise you will loose a great great number of viewers all over the world this fall, I'm sure. I'm done, like many other people who really love the show, if he won't be there in the show again.
There're still realistic ways for his coming-back: 1. He and Shaun haven't shared the last scene in the finale, which is weird because he did support Shaun a lot. / 2. As a gifted doctor, there will be something that Shaun can do to change the situation. By this way, the show still keeps its main line that on one hand highlights Shaun's ability, and on the other hand maintains a talented doctor that stick colleagues together.
    3. I'm happy that Shaun and Lea finally get together. However, since the emotions between Melendez and Claire are too deep in me, it cut half of the inspiration generated by Shaun and Lea. I must have been happier with this couple, but the feelings was quickly ruined by the end of Melendez's fate.
    4. I smelled of something between Melendez and Claire since the very first scenes in ss1, and I felt good when the writer made me wait long enough until ss3 to see them really regcognized each other's feelings and shared sweet moments. I understand there's a big tension as Melendez is Claire's boss and it will be complicated, even trouble, if they become a couple (which in fact I do do do want them to be) when Lim is around there being bigger boss of both and ex-gf of Melendez. Nevertheless, it could never be the reason to let Melendez easily leave the show. I don't think it's a wise choice.

Please, SAVE MELENDEZ! BRING HIM BACK. It's ok to not pair Melendez with Claire if you find it's too hard to write it down (I have to accept this even it hurts), but BRING MELENDEZ BACK, PLEASE.

I think the writer wanted to bring us a show of reality as much as our life is. However, it is ultimately a TV show, and we can allow miracles appear. There should be miracles for Melendez and for us also because we find ourselves behaving better, loving more, sharing more when we watch the show. Please don't put us down. We need love, we need hope, and we need trust to breathe in this life. And sometimes miracles are only things that we can hold onto.

Please listen to your audiences. God blesses you! Bring Melendez back!

Was a great show with a great cast. I use the word was because it was too early to let a main character go so soon. Very disappointed. Bad ending for the season. A lot of good possibilities were left on the table for the cast as it was.

  • Zoe - 4 years ago

Best of luck on your next project Nicholas Gonzalez, and stay safe with family during this pandemic. You will be missed from the show.

  • Jackie - 4 years ago

Whoever wrote this ending certainly didn’t take into account of how much the fans loved Melendez. THIS sucks to have watched this finale to see this happening. Don’t think I’ll ever watch this again. ????????

  • Stephanie S - 4 years ago

I told my daughter at the end of part one of the finale that if they killed off Dr Melendez I would no longer watch the show. His character anchored everyone else's and there was so much more the audience could have gained from greater exploration of his character. If they had to send one of the Dr's to the brewery to eventually die from the earthquake, I'm not sure why he was selected. I loved the show in great part because of the story lines associated with Dr Melendez and his relationships with Dr Lim, Claire, Shaun. I'm sad to say I'm done with the show.

  • Zoe - 4 years ago

I never leave a comment for any show or social media for that matter but I love this show, and I probably will watch season 4 just to see if it will be remotely as amazing as what it has been for the past 3 seasons. Each season has been consistently fantastic with the story plot and specially the unique medical cases. I am not happy Dr Melendez character is gone but If it was his personal decision to leave then he has a life outside of this series however if he was chosen to have his character cut off from the show, It was such a bad decision, he was one of the key characters, it will be not the same without him. No one could have filled this character’s position like If you can create a miracle and bring him back then I think a lot of viewers will be super happy and will continue to watch and ratings will not go down. Definitely happened so fast and I don’t doubt a whole bunch of people cried and cried some more including myself, the acting was so believable so it was hard for people that have watched every single episode not to get emotional about his death and the fact that everyone was waiting to see a relationship between him and Claire just made it even more emotional.

  • Linda - 4 years ago

I think the way Lim and Claire were cold right after Melendez dies!! Let's have a drink sometime? Whaaaaaa. Wow. Lea didn't convince me that she's in love with Shaun. She loves him...not in love with him. I'm a Baby Boomer and I noticed that sitcoms, dramas, whatever, on TV now make absolutely no sense to me; everyone seems to talk to fast and the storyline of the show goes too quickly. Almost like they're trying to fit too much into the time frame they have.

  • N M - 4 years ago

The whole 2 episode season finale had so much drama going on. An emotional roller coaster with Dr Park and the young boy. With Shaun and the woman trapped and Lea... and with Dr Melendez and Claire. Too many things to start, develop and wrap up in one finale. It all happened to quickly, without enough development. One minute Dr Melendez is fine, the next he is dead. Even Claire and Dr Lim's good bye segments felt hollow. The whole thing just leaves a big hollow unfortunate void. We are all left with that now. :(

  • Lourdes Militello - 4 years ago

Terrible decision to kill off Dr. Melendez, he was obviously a show favorite. This had been my favorite show until now. I’m afraid you’re going to lose many viewers including myself:(

  • Karen R - 4 years ago

I have to say I have mixed emotions about everything. First I'm extremely disappointed that Dr. Melendez died. It happened way too fast. I liked the idea that Claire finally found love and it would've been nice to see them as a couple. Shaun and Lea just don't make sense. It all just makes me angry. We need a Melendez miracle or a dream. Please fix it!

  • Meghan - 4 years ago

Absolutely ridiculous! I will NEVER watch this show again. I loved the claire/Melendez storyline. Now we have nothing to look forward to. The show will be boring and will probably be cancelled by next season. This was the worst decision you could of ever possibly made. Noone will watch this show now!

I’m also very disappointed with the finale. I absolutely loved this show from the beginning but I’m not too excited for the future of the show. Dr. Melendez was beyond awesome and his death will leave a huge void. Shawn and Leah won’t last. This sucks : (

  • Linda - 4 years ago

I hated that Dr Melendez died. I cried so hard. Maybe they can bring him back and pretend it was all a dream Claire had?
I love that Shaun and Leah are a couple now. I wanted them together since the show started.
Carly was too old looking for him.
I Love this show so much, especially Shaun who in my opinion is the best actor ever!!!

I like that finally Shaun can be happy with Lea. I didnt like that Dr. Melendez died, that is not fair because he was getting along with Shaun. He was helping Shaun as well. He was such a good actor as a docter I enjoyed when he had to reason with other doctors before surgery. I will missed him.

I'm sad that hes gone because es caracter was the biggest supporter of dictor Murphy I dint really wanted him to go .????????????????????this is for me the best show ever its buy far besides that he play the autism perfect it shows that he's been true a real life look a like a servant..I very happy people gets to know how a person it's a friend of mine as 2bkids with autism they're Hispanic culture it's even harder and the older I belive could have some what of extreme intelligence but he needs help ..thank you fir that personality

  • Reah - 4 years ago

I agree with almost everyone. Killing Dr. Melendez off was a HUGE MISTAKE. I cried and cried. I couldn't believe it. And I felt Shaun and Leah are forced. It was too quick. I personally don't like them together and I think he deserves someone a bit more believable. She is out of his reach. She isn't realistic. You didn't have to kill Melendez off. What's the hurry? I'm done with the show. He was one of the best characters I looked forward to seeing and now I have nothing to look forward to.

  • Karon TenEyck - 4 years ago

Very disappointed. BIG MISTAKE killing off Dr. Melendez. Maybe you could come up with some kind of miracle. Maybe it was a dream. It's happened before on shows.
    Please think about it.

Wow. This is the worst decision they could have made. Don’t bother having a season 4 . The show died with Melendez.

  • Shannon Singh - 4 years ago

I CANNOT BELIEVE THRY KILLED OFF DR. MELENDEZ! That was huge disappointment, and I believe crushed the show! I loved watching mainly because of him! I don’t know what idiot on the network decided to kill him off. Your ratings will regret it, as I guarantee now that he’s off they will take a huge drop! Obviously it was not his choice to be killed off. What an epic FAIL to a season a Finale!

  • Suzanne Hall - 4 years ago

Thinking about it the last 10 minutes, that show felt more like a series finale than a season finale. If it doesn't come back next season, really, there's nothing we'd miss. Nothing we'd be disappointed to not get closure on. I like Morgan, but what I really loved was Brown/Melendez.

  • Heather Akers - 4 years ago

Melendez was one of the best characters on the show, big mistake killing him off. I loved him and really wanted to see him find love, get married and have a family.

  • Mery Colon - 4 years ago

So sad that Dr Melendez died... not good for the show. It was not a good decision. I cried the whole time... not sure how they are going to fill in the hole they have put in the show by removing this great character. Not sure if it will be the same.
