Do you take it easier when critiquing Black content?

I’m often more impressed when content is black and yet also spectacular. I want more of the Lovecrafts to get space to stretch our imaginations and consciousness. I find that the Tyler Perry’s have flooded a small portion of the zone with some mediocre content (that people love which is wonderful for him and his cast and crew. As Tom Cruise said, they feed a tremendous amount of people off content whether we like it or clown it so I’m bit mad). But it also gives way to the Own network and their titan shows like Queen Sugar, Greenleaf, Iyanla, and a host of interesting black lead reality shows. So even if I’m not watching The Have and Have Nots and prefer This is Us and All Rise, I’m grateful for Tyler and also his audiences that provide the ratings, which gives him legitimacy that translates over to the shows that I love by way of black and brown representation.
