I know that God is still working on me because while my heart breaks OVERALL for their current disaster in Texas, I secretly thought "...yeah, but some of those people can GO" I blame Evie for rubbing off on me! Lmao

My husband had to travel outside the country for work. I was home with my 2.5 month old when we had a mini ice storm in February in Montreàl. It knocked out the power for around 18 hours.
We have a gas stove, lots of flashlights I had tons of blankets so we made it through the night. I was also able to charge my battery pack in my car so I could charge my phone. I was about to go rent a hotel room for us the next morning when the power returned. Our neighbour, 80 years old, also came over to ensure we were ok. He saw that my husband wasn’t here and was worried that I was alone with a young baby. But yeah, I don’t want to do that again and I’m from Jamaica where the power might be out for days if we get hit with a hurricane. Cold worse than heat. To me. Brrrr!

I will forever be traumatized from when all of metro atlanta was shut down in 2014 over 2 inches of snow. I was stuck in traffic in snow and ice almost crashed bc of my cheap ass tires and had to walk in the snow in mules for miles (really 1/2 mile but thats what it will be when I tell my grandchildren lol) to a hotel just to sleep on the floor in the lobby!

I grew up in Sierra Leone in the 80s and part of the 90s and we had more the opposite, aka 'rolling power'...blackouts were the norm. No rolling blackouts in the 7 years I lived in America (in Maryland) just actual 'blackout' blackout for days during Snowmageddon 2010!
