Karen hit the nail on the head about people just needing a little bit of help to make it. The myth that people getting government assistance is people that don’t work is bullshit. I work for a government agency and lots of our parents work. They work HARD. Most ppl working at or below the poverty line are some of the hardest working people I know.

I answered no in the poll before remembering I got my degree thanks to the federal Pell and other state grants. It may not be what initially comes to mind, but that is a government assistance program.
