I meant to say I use my dishwasher to store dishes while they dry. I’m with you I’ve lived in too many household where my cousins or me were the dishwashers while looking at a dishwasher we wanted to use.

Judging by these comments I must be a whole weirdo for not using the dishwasher???? but I really don't mind washing dishes. I really do destress and think better when I clean. I come from the age of listening to old head music when you do your chores so I usually throw on some Anita or whoever, start with the dishes, mop and sweep the the kitchen floor and by the end of of my cleaning routine my BP has dropped and i'm ready for some wine and some netflix.

When I was a kid, we had a dishwasher for, like, a couple of years. This was such a long time ago, and the dishwasher just did not work right. Dishwashers don't work like washing machines, where that center agitator makes for manipulating the fabric to get to the dirty. Dishes just stay in place, so the dishwasher is much more dependent on constantly running water hitting them. Back then, it didn't work.
Dishwashers work much better now, but the new problem is that unless you have a house full of people, running the full cycle with only a couple of place settings seems like a waste, when there is a sink right there. I used to just put dishes in there, and wait until whenever it got filled to run them. But living with a woman who can't abide the possibility of roaches means using the sink.

As a former child laborer who had to clean the kitchen multiple times, it is the most refreshing thing when I use my dishwasher.

I just moved into my first place post living with my mom that has a dishwasher so I plan on using it. So far it’s just been storage though.

I've heard that some black folks who have dishwashers don't use them, I don't really get it.
I grew up in a black household where I was the "designated" dishwasher so now it's rare for my grown ass to wash a dish by hand.
