This specific situation seems like a waste of time, but I think they might be trying to model after the recent shift in language around homelessness, where people are now described as someone who is “experiencing homelessness” rather than someone who “IS homeless”. To me that makes sense so I voted for the weird/clunky option in the poll even though I don’t really like the solution offered.

Just say sex offender. it's less wordy and not all sex offenders are adults.
