It looks entirely possible that we may see a few NASCAR drivers come back to the "500" if indeed the start time is rolled back to the original 11 a.m. starting in 2011. (This is where it should be...!) Tony Stewart, though aging now, still has the fire inside to win the race that his idol, some guy who also used #14, had won 4 of, and don't count out Sam Hornish, whose NASCAR career is not doing too well at the moment. Montoya...almost had the "double" last year if it wasn't for the questionable NASCAR speeding in pits call, and he wouldn't mind winning the 500 a second time, seeing how he was denied the opportunity to possibly get a win in Formula One here. Add John Andretti, Kahne, Newman, and several others who have had some open wheel experience, and the opportunity to compete in the 500, and you have the makings for a great event here in 2011 or 2012. Jeff Gordon and Robby Gordon...not likely (though Robby has been here in the 500 several times) are outside possibilities, but who knows?
Stewart said when he was with Joe Gibbs a few years ago the famous forgiveness line...Perhaps the Stock Car boys could "sneak in" and run both with the 11 a.m. start time. It would be the greatest, and finally, some names we can at least pronounce again in May! Let's hope it DOES happen!!!
