I plan on using my tablet for reading PDF documents, watching movies on long trips, and as a teaching tool in my classroom (hopefully to use PPT and visuals)

Sooner you guys release a viable "Adam" product the better; same applies to Neofonie in Germany with their "Wetab" product. Having more than one product in the market place is good for us consumers as it means greater choice as we will compare each product against the others and then chose the product that best meets our needs, and also it means that marketing pressures should encourage the Companies to be more competitive.

Hope to see the "Adam" in Australia sooner than later!

  • kartik - 14 years ago

Plz , Plz can u make a very cheap version say below $100 (5000 ruppes) a adam which is just a good ebook reader, strip down every costly item like touch screen ,high memory ,audio video wi fi chips and just provide us another product just for reading! all students esp in tech field will be happy!

These are just my thoughts as an average customer:
I'm going to do some Work&Travel stuff right before I start to study at a university. My girlfriend is studying at the moment, so I have a clue how my average day will look like :D
At the moment I own an usua Delll Laptop (15 inch) and my beloved HTC Hero.
I love my phone for its endless possibilities:
-Social Networking in all its colours (chatting, facebook, upload & watch photos)
-Browsing the web, especially blogs, through special apps e.g. engadget (somehow I never use the normal browser on my phone)
    -Listening to music
    -Gaming
-Watching some clips or saved tv shows

I use my laptop for the usual stuff:
    -Browsing
    -Watching videos
-Gaming (There is nothing better than a game of good old WC3 with some buddies over the internet)
    -Organising Data (Music, Photos, Videos)

But i really hate my HTC Hero for its Sense overlay. I mean by now the phone is old, I accept that, but whats so hard to release the Android Update within a reasonable time, and not a year later? What really kept me from smashing it are the fabolous guys over at xda-developers.
I can't write code, but I have an overview how a computer works and how to solve some problems. So with their help I was able to root my phone, put on some custom roms and enjoy some Android 2.1 soon after it came out and with some luck I might even get some frozen yogourt on my Hero.

On the other hand I dislike my laptop for various reasons:
    -It's too big
    -Battery life is incredible short
-It's impossible to read real books or even learn from my screen for me

So the Adam would really fit into that gap, it might even replace my whole laptop!

What I'm trying to say is: I think you invented the perfect product!
    The display? I love it!
    The camera? wonderful idea!
The backside Trackpad? Killing! Really, besides the display, this is a real and well thought through feature!

Now to the (in my opinion) most important point:
As you've chosen android as your OS, you have somewhat selected your field of customers. I mean in my opinion it was the only choice ;)
But: Most guys who decide themselves for Android know what they are getting, know their way around a computer, are interested in customizing their device and open for new technologies.
They really don't need no beautifully looking interface, and if they do they choose one themselves.
They need no itunes and locked down eco system, they choose themselves.
They want functionallity and take some nice UI as a bonus.

Please Please, I beg you: Don't postpone this masterpiece because of a magazine reader or some rainmeter-double as UI. Offer them as an update or with the Adam 2, or a even better solution: Split the hardware and the software part. Everyone who wants bare Android can get the device at an even lower price while the software will cost you some extra bucks,

Anyway: keep up your great work, I hope for a release soon!
    With best regards
    Rabe

I am sooooooooooooo eagerly waiting for your device. it gives me a certain pride cause indians are behind this. i hope u release it before its too late and the venture fails due to competition. i hope it has support for external drives and media. :)

    all the best!!!!

nd by the way dont give it your 100%..... coz then, u wont b able to make a version 2 and 3 etc in successive years.... :)

  • PF - 14 years ago

    @Grayson^
In the specifications it mentions 2 USB ports (I've also seen mention of 3 if I remember correctly). Or what do you mean by "internal"? Do you literally mean usb connectors inside so that you have to open up the casing? Or were you referring to built-in?

Oh, and @Nguyen. Do you really think the ipad will be the only successful tablet/slate? It might be the one that sells the most but that doesn't mean it will be the only successful one (just like with phone where the iPhone might be the most sold phone but other OSes have a greater market share). There is NO current competitor slate against the iPad, but there will be. The Adam will most likely not outsell the iPad (sorry NI, but you've said as much if I remember correctly), but it DOES have a chance of being successful in its own right. The iPad is still not available in a lot of markets. And they amended their June release date to Q3 months ago so they haven't missed anything.

  • Grayson Peddie - 14 years ago

I would love to buy this and replace my Acer Aspire One AOA150 netbook. I could see this for reading, surfing the Internet, SIP-based audio calling (Session Internet Protocol), and as a home automation touchscreen with LCD disabled. This seems to have many more features than Always Innovating Touch Book without the keyboard, plus without the need to have an external webcam connected via USB. But then it won't have internal USB ports. Or am I missing something?

  • AR - 14 years ago

Maybe worth noting that since the most popular activities (e.g. browser,email...) are typical family-style activities, it would be really cool to have some sort of hardware logon mechanism (usb? transducer?). This way each family member can pick up the Adam and register easily without having to logon all over the place.

  • Thanh Nguyen - 14 years ago

In my opinion, you guys already lost the battle to Apple already. All I heard from your company is all hype and nothing else. Months and months of talking and not a single device on the market yet. Heck, you even missed your own deadline for June delivery! In the mean time, millions of iPad already got sold. You will be like the Hp/Microsoft tablet and oh, remember the JooJoo tablet? By the time you get there, nobody will buy it anyways since better alternatives will be there to crush you guys. Ipad is not there in India yet because nobody cares about that market. Nobody will buy your stuff in India and that's why you guys try to sell it oversea. Anyways, good luck making that piece of junk. It will be obsoleted by the time you guys release it.

  • WaitingForAdam - 14 years ago

I am eagerly waiting for this device. My needs are limited to reading/making notes and surfing the web but with the claimed battery it relieves me from many hassles, especially carrying many books around.
Thanks for effort but it will much nicer if you could talk about the release date and the price range.

  • 4r4nd0mninj4 - 14 years ago

I'm totally for the online storefront to sell these things. I just want to buy it, pop in my sim card, and enjoy it like any other Android device. I don't want the Adam to have anything to do with my wireless carrier! They would ruin it for everyone like all the other android products they sell. Would you believe most are still running Android 1.5? LAME!

  • Tejs - 14 years ago

Hey congrates guys. It seems azimg stuff. I would like to use it for making notes during lectures. And fast web accessing for references. I hope it's satisfye with it's speed. I am waiting for it eagerly. Detroit USA.

  • Justis Peters - 14 years ago

I write software applications and really look forward to doing my work in the park, on sunny days. I hope that the Adam will support external keyboards. Best of luck in the run up to the final release!

    Kind regards,
    Justis

    i really want one !

  • PF - 14 years ago

Personally I can't see myself using the Adam for drawing or anything along those lines unless you come out with a version that uses a stylus with good precision. In my opinion you can't draw without having a stylus input with at least resistive screen levels of precision, wacom active digitizer levels would obviously be best (I've no idea how good that light pen input technology is but I assume it's a contender). Now I am not knocking the Adam. Capacitive is better in many ways than resistive (and the opposite can also be said to be true). I know that there are people who do GORGEOUS art on the iphone (and therefore on the ipad), but I think that's more the exception. With capacitive I imagine more doodling.

If I get the Adam (and I really hope I do but that depends on you guys and the reviews) I plan on using it for consumption, productivity and my main CPU. For example, I am going to READ on this thing, and a lot. I will also use it for leisurely browsing on the couch and such and minor editing, and when I need to get down to work I plan to hook it up to a keyboard/mouse combo and a monitor/tv for productivity and to enable a certain flow and continuity. I will only go back to my current laptop but aging laptop (it's got a Turion X2 puma cpu@2Ghz and ATI HD 3200 from 1.5 years ago) for one of four reasons: 1.I need to do some heavy browsing (anywhere between 3 to 60 tabs open in the browser), 2. I need Windows specific programs (examples are photoshop for my friend and the Oxford English Dictionary which I have to run in Virtual XP for me), 3. Same as 2 but with games, and 4. If I want a bigger screen but don't want to use a monitor/tv (this lap has a 15.6" screen). Now photo editing compared to drawing has real potential depending on the software (and how it might be able to tap into the hardware).

One thing I hope is that the device will be easy to open up. I say this because eventually the battery will die and by then the warranty will have run out so it would be easier to change it oneself rather than sending it away. Also you guys hinted at what might come with the Tegra2's 12MP camera support. It could be cool if you end up upgrading the camera to offer the ability just to swap out the camera module for those comfortable with DIY (with instructions on how to do it so the individual can gauge the level of difficulty before jumping in (obviously this part is more wishful thinking).

I hope more details on the release and stuff come out soon. Obviously this device has great potential: hooking it up to a stereo for music, a tv for Full HD video, games, maps (as mentioned above) while on the go (I can imagine using it to find my way around a foreign city or while hiking in the woods), and video calling would be so much comfortable with this. I love using the phone because of the ability to move around. I hate video chatting because I'm stuck sitting down. With this I could video chat and do other stuff, move around the house and have it all work great.

And I think I've talked more than enough. Like I said, hope we get release details soon, especially mentioning a Q3 date.

I would like to see this one as a shrunken laptop rather than a blown up ipod touch, hope you amazing guys live up to everyone's expectations.please update us on the SDK front.

(in advance sorry for my english)
I`m want ADAM for drawing. I have tablet pc (acer) with 15`` screen. Worked with it device unconfortable: wight 4kg, hot from chipset, capacity of battery - max 4 hour, and... dimension... it very unconveniently in the tours. Many men buy notebooks and pads for serfing in the internet. And many bigest companies created notebooks for him (acer, HP, Toshiba, Apple... thousands their). But quantity of devices for realy work very-very small. I say about realy cheap (not more $1000) devices with stilus, sensed force of pressing, without keyboard. I will be very glad if ADAM be device not usual pad with thinkscreen.
(Else one sorry for my english) ;)

I'm really eager to see the finished product. I love the battery life, but am really hoping that at some point you will have access to a power efficient platform that can handle windows and some stylus input. I use a convertable tablet for annotation at work. My clients sign contracts on my tablet everyday, but i would love to have a device like the adam thatcan handle this, is lighter, allows video conferencing with my office and family, and Windows compatability so I have access to all of my productivity tools and independent software programs I currently use. The device that can do all of this, gets my money times three. To be able to use this for all of my mobile work and personal needs (do work, conferencing and calling, and reading a book on the beach or on the plane) without having to worry about battery -- priceless.

  • Florian-French - 14 years ago

I'm very happy to see this new.

I wait for a tablet since few month and i think i can still wait to buy this fabulous tablet.

Good luck and keep working, i believe in your company and on your tablet ;)

  • Vijaykishen Vemuganti - 14 years ago

I am 59 and a retired Bank Officer. So excited about the product since Feb that I started reading and comparing
all tablets (ofcourse, more about iPad). But I am sticking to this one, "ADAM", and can't wait to replace my
    laptop at the earliest.
All the best and God bless you.

  • Albert - 14 years ago

I have been required to purchase a PDA for medical school and this seems like the ideal product to drop my laptop and switch back to a less complicated phone. I hated all the other products because they did not have standard ports and poor batery life. Finaly a product that can make it all happen! I just have one request, keep producing this product cheap and drive prices down. Please don't sell out to big corporations who are going to want to buy you out and sell your product for twice the price! Keep technology at low cost so everyone can use it! Thanks and keep up the good work! -Colorado, USA

  • Peter Choi - 14 years ago

Hope I can use this one as a portable editor for documentary film.
    (With cloud computing technology...)

  • Udo Puetz - 14 years ago

The Adam, like the ipad, is made for couch usage. Therefore editing will be lightly used (reply to an email, open a website). But the other points on your list are valid: Reading, Internet Surfing, Email (reading mostly), Gaming (if motion sensors are capable of that), Entertainment (if the computing power (CPU/GPU) is sufficient) and Video Calls (outstanding feature of the adam, in comparison to the ipad and other tablets). So a limitation to 3 usages is too few.
And, by the way GET THAT THING OUT THE DOOR! We want to buy it NOW. In your blog you say something about hardware changes (other LCD, other CPU). That takes loots of time. Design, manufacturing rampup etc. GET A WORKING MACHINE OUT THE DOOR NOW or the competition will crush you.
    Regards,
    Udo Puetz

  • A - 14 years ago

Come on Guy's when is it actually coming out. April to July to Nov? You know it better, more delays more competition and finally loss of interest.

  • dkbhardwaj - 14 years ago

  • Ben - 14 years ago

I've have been waiting for the ADAM since I heard about it about 3 months back, I hope it doesn't disappoint. I'll be buying it if you'll be shipping to USA. Also can you tel us if it's going to be shipped with Android 2.2.

  • maktum - 14 years ago

    Hi,
I have been wating for last 6 months to buy adam.
I mainly interested in gaming, surfing, app store. I hope adam provide this for me and UI must be better than Apple ipad

  • Jeffery - 14 years ago

I intend to use this at my workplace as a replacement for my laptop to assist me with IT troubleshooting. The IT possibilities for this device are rather impressive.

  • Balvir Dubey - 14 years ago

    Guys,
I don't have to tell you to hurry up as most of the comments on this site are saying that. No doubt it is going to be a herculean task setting up sales and distribution channels in so many countries, if you want to go global. Already there is talk of many of other major competitors working round the clock on similar products / platforms. They have global reach so time will be of essence in your case. If they launch before you, then you will certainly lose out on major market share. At this moment what is attracting us to ADAM are the features announced and the expected cost. If you lose this advantage, then ADAM will lose out. Hope to see some good news with tentative dates on your blog soon.

  • Dr A B - 14 years ago

I have been eagerly waiting for this product ever since a patient of mine told me about it.
But folks i am afraid the more time you are gonna take in releasing it for retail sale , more and more manufacturers will try and copy your features and roll out tablets before you.. ( and we as Indians just cant tolerate that an awesome gadget loses in the race just because they released it a bit slow. )
please hasten up the process and release ADAM in the retail market. n( according to your calcualtions when will u be able to roll it out for sale ??? )
I am sure you guys are gonna setup a online shopping option as well so that every one (even the Indian people ) can buy it online by paying through paypal.
    God bless.
    Regards

  • Sukhdeep Kharbanda - 14 years ago

Hey atleast announce tentative date of release and pricing, so we can get some hope which will help us while we are waiting till device hits market ;-)

    INDIA

  • samS - 14 years ago

Announcing pricing and release date soon(at least official tentative dates) and much before its launch is best way to get more buyers . Now I'm in a big dilemma whether to buy this or a PC if its launch gets delayed. Its better if they help me make up my mind

  • Artem - 14 years ago

I am dream about .GPx (Guitar Pro) files viewing and editing on it...

  • Christian Krämer - 14 years ago

Although i am very attracted to the iPad, the Adam would be the only reason for me not to buy it. So, if you'll make it to the European market till autumn, consider me one more customer drawn ayway from Apple ;-)

    Christian (Germany)

  • Dan - 14 years ago

Congratulations and good luck in the months ahead, Rohan. Remember what I said about making the tablet durable! In a world where we go away from paper (which lasts 100 years if kept properly) to electronics, we'll end up with 100 times the garbage if people throw away their devices every few years. And worse yet, that garbage will be toxic.

I'm guaranteed to buy an Adam when it comes out. I've told my friends that it's far superior to an iPad, and I expect the hardware and SDK to help me prove that. Pressure's on!

  • Loren - 14 years ago

In my opinion, the Adam seems to be /easily/ the best tablet PC idea out there. Pixel Qi + appropriate OS, proper ports and camera (not like that stinky ipad), great battery, etc, etc... Just please please PLEASE ship it to Australia! I know so many people who would love an Adam.

Your guaranteed customer (if you can ship to Au, of course).

  • Piru - 14 years ago

    School!!!

I can't wait to get my hands on one and purchase textbook ebooks so I can stop lugging around my huge textbooks for school. Plus I can take notes directly on the ADAM. I've dreamed of something like this..but it only existed in the movies. Will be buying on ASAP in Canada xD

  • Yuliya - 14 years ago

I am studing on engineer and I want to draw in AutoCAD on Adam, is it possible? You will be selling Adam in Russia?

  • Lion Tremere - 14 years ago

I hope you will make an online store with worldwide shipping. Lot`s of people around the world are dreaming about Adam.

    *Russia here*

  • Budi Santoso - 14 years ago

I hope i can buy it in Indonesia.
Or maybe online store that have good packaging.

  • Jared Arnold - 14 years ago

Have to say that I'd love to see it used for all of these things; with keyboard/mouse support gaming seems like it could be a big plus; and I'm extremely hopeful that at some point there will be some skype partnership, as this thing is flawless for video calls with friends =)

Internet surfing is a given; entertainment's really nice too ^_^ I think this, coupled with my Nexus One will complete any need I'd ever need. With possible support for ubuntu/ChromeOS.. even if it doesn't have android market from the start (Google's rumored to be adding tablet support in fall with the new version of android) ChromeOS would make up for that with webapps.. Cortex A9 dualcore proc... I'm in heaven ^_^

Keep it up NotionInk! I'm super proud of you guys.
