It was very hard to choose, but in general when I have a very precious yarn, I try to do something that won't wear out, like a shawl. I wear through socks and gloves quickly, and I wouldn't want to make something too season-specific, like mittens or a hat...hence the shawl. Though in practice I have made all of these items with one precious skein!
