Maybe I'm a little behind the curve on this, but--I am reminded of the time "someone" referred to pecans (manna) in their food as "speedbumps" to good taste.
I tend to feel that way about "too much" in the way of another language. For me, coming across words I do not recognize/cannot pronounce interrupts the flow of my reading. The story loses momentum when I have to stop, go back, ponder and wha-a-a-at? over some strange word.
Not that I cannot understand when that occurs, just is an interruption to me and has, on occasion, when used too frequently taken away reading pleasure to the point I lay the book aside and move on to another.
That is all------God bless
