Nigel Lythgoe needs to bring Pia back if he wants to save his show. If not, I will never watch this show again.

I'm shocked by the outcome, but at the same time, I've never viewed Idol as a show that's solely about talent. It's also about the degree to which the performer can form a relationship, an emotional bond with the viewer at home. It's on this side of things that Pia fell down and, combined with lazy-voter fans, it's why she went home. I had been predicting that Pia would go further in the competition, but I wasn't sure she'd seen the finale for exactly this reason. The hatchet just fell swifter than expected.
Pia's vocals have been beyond compare. I won't contest that. She's been perfect.
But that's the problem, really. When you believe someone is perfect, they can't mess up ever; but worse, it's hard as hell to feel an emotional connection to them. Most of us aren't perfect and we have a hard time seeing ourselves in those who are. As an artist, Pia was really frictionless for me. For everyone else on the show I've felt something, whether it's root for the underdog (Haley), revulsion (that Lusky stank), boom and bust elation and disappointment (Casey), just plain fun (James), etc. Pia has always been "beautiful", but emotionally sterile for me.
And that's why I think she's gone. Lazy voting alone wouldn't've done it, I think. There've been enough rumblings about her not connecting for enough viewers that I'm comfortable suggesting the result was at least a little of her own making.
I don't think it's fair, mind you. She does deserve to be there to the top three (I was predicting a Doolittle finish for her). But I get why it happened.

what a joke. The judges need to have some voting too. They were the ones who picked the top 24 out of thousands. Maybe have something like "dancing with the stars" that the judges vote counts too, or after the home audience picks the bottom two, the judges picks the one who goes home. The last 3 or 4 years the "Teenie Bopper" have taken over the show. What has the those winners done- nothing. Not one guy has gone home this year and that is because the girls are voting for the cute guys. AI has become a popularity contest not a talent competition. The cuter the guy the better chance he will win.

I've been an American Idol fan since the beginning, but voting Pia off shows American teenie boppers treat the show as a popularity contest vs a show of talent. I will no longer watch American Idol and instead change to another show I normally tape. AMERICA "TEENIE BOPPERS" GOT IT WRONG AND I HOPE PIA SEES THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE ON AND VOICE HER DISPLEASURE. I hope Randy, Tyler and Jennifer have the backbone to voice their feelings on the voting process. It seems that with today's technology, Fox could come up with a one person-one vote program to keep teenagers from multiple votes. Adults are buying the products more so than the teenagers. WHAT A DISAPPOINTING EVENING!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm mad at myself for not voting for Pia. I've thought since Hollywood week that she would be the default winner. I guess other people felt the same and didn't vote for her and now we're sorry.
And, oh yeah, the judge's save was soooo wasted.

I believed that this show was for the TALENTED contestants to get a shot at stardom. Pia toscano, who has more talent in her little pinky than all the other contestants up there, for her to be voted off .......what is wrong these people???Her performances have always been flawless!Paul cannot sing!!!!!!!! He should have been voted off a long time ago!! I watched the show tonight with two other friends who could not believe "the most talented" one was voted off! We all agreed Pia is the most talented since Carrie Underwood. This show is a farce!!!!!!!!

The only reason to keep watching is to be able to enjoy MS's recaps and Idoloonies!
