How do you feel about drinking alcohol socially and in moderation?
I strictly follow this aspect of the word of wisdom and have never had a drink.
I used to drink (in high school, college, or before I became a member) but choose not to now so that I may answer temple recommend questions with a clear conscience.
I don't think there is anything wrong with wine and beer in moderation or for special occasions, and do not consider it something that I need to confess to be a member in good standing.
I'm not sure how to interpret this part of Section 89, but I don't drink because I don't do well with moderating myself.
I want to be able to drink socially on occasion, but am afraid of the stigma and repercussions at church if anyone found out.
I don't think God intends for people to drink fermented beverages.
If wine was the drink of choice in the New Testament, I think we should be able to drink it responsibly now without consequences at church and that it has various uses and benefits.
